Wallace
They'll probably give him an 8 year contract anarl. They must have learnt their lesson on that one.
Ronaldo
Still don't want him mind, but I do think he's step up from Pardew and on a different planet to Carver. Joe Kinnear with latter stage dementia is on a different planet to Carver, mind.
Deuce
I'd much rather gamble and be excited for a bit than maintain crushing mediocrity. Absolutely this.
henke
The fact that also McCrapren didn't have the courage to take on the job with 3 games left in a time of need, would have precluded his name from any short list in any sane club. He bottled that opportunity. He lacked the foresight too, to see that it as a better bet for him to be rolling a dice on a big club in the prem rather that staying a a championship club where he would ultimately be sacked, is not a good sign for a manager. No bottle or foresight not good things for a manager to lack. Why risk having a relegation on his cv? Utterly pathetic comment How's it a pathetic comment? McClaren didn't want the job when the club had hit the rocks. Hardly a ringing endorsement if we are in a relegation battle with him at the helm next season. He's shit and a bottler, it would have took balls to take us with 3 games left, and he didn't have the courage to take on the challenge. It's not a pathetic comment, but neither is McClaren a bottler. If we're in a relegation scrap next may it'll be McClarens fault but this season was entirely somebody else's fault, you can't criticise a bloke for not jumping onto a sinking ship! The only time you'll ever get a sane manager to do that I'd by throwing money at him, and you know how our owner feels about throwing money around. Elliottman
Aye, its ridiculous to critisise him for not taking the three games. He'd have been a lunatic to do it.
Andy84
McLaren's record at Boro in the PL: 12th, 11th, 11th, 7th (League cup winners), 14th (UEFA finalists). Also got to 2 FA cup semi finals. Easy to see why this is Ashleys dream appointment

I'd far rather we didn't appoint someone like McClaren, but he would be a decent enough appointment all things considered. Vieira smacks to me of the club trying to force McClaren's hand into accepting our terms etc. As leftfield as he would be, we need someone experienced, someone with some kind of track record. I'd take the former Boro man over Vieira like.

If someone with experience brings that, fine. If someone without it brings it, also fine. What we need isn't at all dependent on any form of experience tbh. nufc4eva
I would happily see Viera get it. Inexperienced yes and unknown but bit more exciting than just another bang average British manager. Always liked Viera as well and comes across well.

Tsunami
Whoever we appoint is going to need serious investment in the squad or the poor bugger will be a basket case by Christmas. If we do get Vieira I'd hope he'd been satisfied with our plans whereas if we appoint McLaren I'd be more inclined to feel that he'd accept the job no matter what. I can't imagine Vieira would tow the line for too long if he wasn't happy with what was going on. For that reason alone I'd rather see Vieira.
