TRon
Obertan would have been perfect to bring on last night, would have relieved some pressure and pinned them back a bit. Yes he doesn't do much with it but don't underestimate how frightened defenders get when pace is put on them, especially in the last 20 when they are tired. Better than hoofing it 60-70 yards to Shola that's for sure. Great point. This is another reason why I don't think Pardew has a clue about the modern game. A fast winger is the perfect sub to bring on when you want to sit back and hit on the counter.

Agree, honestly i'd much rather Obertan than Jonas never thought i'd say that this time last year
Dokko
Just think what gabby did to Debuchy last night, a very competent defender and only at ht. Obertan last 20 would give any defender a headache simply down to his speed and ability to run with the ball. Rather watch 20mins of Obertan running in to blind allies than 20mins of villa having wave after wave of attack. Pardew is clueless man, totally fucking clueless. Hanshithispantz
It's mental man, they were sitting on the half way line and we had Shola Ameobi in line with them

Rather watch 20mins of Obertan running in to blind allies than 20mins of villa having wave after wave of attack. Pardew is clueless man, totally f***ing clueless. We were under the cosh and in the lead, Obertan would have provided a useful outlet to hit them on the break, much more so than Ameobi trying to hold the ball up for nobody else to join in. Don't know why he wasn't even on the bench, unless he was injured, but then a place needed to be made for Willo As it was, I'd much rather have seen Sammy than Shola. The latter only has a use if we're chasing a game with 20 minutes to go and we're just pumping long balls into the danger area nowadays.

If teams go all out attack on you. You hit them on the counter attack with pace not hoof it up to Shola Ameobi who loses it almost immediately and allows the opposition wave after wave of relentless attacks putting yourself under ridiculous unnecessary pressure. This has been happening all season and Pardew is a disgrace for doing this just because he likes Shola. Obertan wasn't on the bench last night so he should have played Sammy or Campbell should have been on the bench as the kid has speed and knows where the back of the net is. Angry with Pardew and losing faith and patience with him. Pandering to a very good player like Ba in order to keep him was poor decision but you can understand it to a degree because you want to keep top players like Ba happy ideally. But Shola ffs grow a pair Pardew! He's a terrible player and pinning our hopes on him is asking for relegation AGAIN !!
Ikon
Looks a player! Like how he covers the ball with his back against goal. Looks very good and allround if you ask me. Gives good balace. Good work defensively as well.
aussiemag
He's quality if he gets 10 goals a season .. Maintaining his current role in the team .. He'll be such a valuable asset
LRD
Like the way he looked for options when he had the ball. Saw Santon free on the left and released him with the pass. Ba would have gone for a shot from range.

Guest Dontooner
Brilliant link up play by Gouffran, exactly the type of player we need help this team attack, just needs to adjust to score some goals. Ba and Best didnt score much when he was given this role, hope he finds his way.

Nordstrom
Very pleased to see him making intelligent runs along the wing. One of the things the team has lacked while on the attack is a good set of options for our midfield 3 to make forward passes. This lad seems to create a lot of space and hence removes a lot of the one dimensional attacking we've been guilty of this season.
