He offers very little to us, and stifles progress of two young left wingers we have at the club in Atsu and Aarons. He started way too many games last season ahead of Atsu, imo. Retaining him makes little short or long term sense. May be seen in similar light to Murphy? In that he won't play much but can step in as required and can do a job in limited set of games which is probably about right. We need a squad after all. Gouffran is 31, he'll likely be more willing to accept a shorter contract on lower wages. That's probably the gist of it, Rafa won't be offering Gouffran a contract if he reckons it's shite for the club He's obviously not going to be anywhere near the starting XI next season.
