HawK
I agree with TCD...... What a waste of time and money. Guilt should be apportioned to both sides. But it was constantly mentioned that he didn't want to come here and that he hadn't even been playing well in France. Yet we spunked a lot of money on him anyway. Then proceeded to not play him for whatever reason. Now he's off 6 months. What a mess. From HBA to Cabella to Thauvin.. next Obertan will be getting an extended 8 year contract and the downward spiral will be complete.

Chicken Dancer
We should have just kept Cabella. Started looking a bit brighter in the second half of last season, another pre season with us and a year of adapting. Pretty certain he would have been more effective this season. Pointless signing was Thauvin.

mrmojorisin75
Despite everything - Cabella remained motivated for his entire stint at Newcastle. Can't say the same for this lad cabella had more chances to play in a team that wasn't half as rancid as this one before he got that injury iirc thauvin has started 3 and had 10 sub runouts for 420 mins or so of league action in one of the worst teams in the division

When Gouff gets in ahead of you - something behind the scenes has gone wrong. Well that depends. We've been through this with your man Pardew who played Obertan and Gouffran ahead of HBA. McClaren is from similar conservative English stock, Thauvin probably doesn't "work hard" enough for him so he can't be arsed.
Hughesy
To lose HBA was ridiculous in itself, but to get rid of Cabella after one season just compounded the error. I can imagine Cabella fitting pretty well into a team with Wijnaldum.
TRon
Despite everything - Cabella remained motivated for his entire stint at Newcastle. Can't say the same for this lad That's the difference for me. Cabella had problems adapting as well but he looked like he wanted to be a success here whereas Thauvin doesn't really look interested. Seems far too happy to fuck off back to France at the earliest opportunity.

He might not have worked hard enough too perhaps for their liking. Thauvin is nowhere near HBA talent though so this doesn't wash. He seemed a hard worker when he did play. Just lacked quality. I just don't think he's rated by the staff. He never wanted to be here so wouldn't surprise me if his attitude was off. Him running back to France at teh very first chance is telling. The College Dropout
Aye, squad was worse last season (but so was most of the league). I mean... we regularly fielded a cenral mid of Gouff & Jonas. Riviere up top. Willo at the back.
