Yeah, I made that mistake with Paul Rideout.

First Cup Final I remember in detail. Watched it start to finish, and had followed it from Round 1 with my Match FA Cup Wallchart.  :cheesy:

Was convinced we were going to win it that year. Sure we were very unlucky in the Qtr Final at Everton

Hidetoshi Nakata

Asian's David Beckham and possibly the first true global football superstar from the continent. Retired at the age of 29 and switched to a career in fashion.

Nice choice. The finest Japanese player ever?

Junchi Inamoto

Signed for Arsenal in 2001, didn't play a league game. Scored 2 goals for Japan at the summer games and moved across london to Fulham. Had 2 pretty good seasons at Fulham, before being carted of to West Brom where he became ignored after Megson's departure and had to make do with a loan at Cardiff. A brief tour of Europe (Gala, Frankfurt, Rennes) followed, before returning to Japan, where he still plays for Kawasaki Frontale.

Alpay Ozalan

After working his way up through Turkish football (Atlay, Besiktas and Fener) Alpay secured his move to England after impressing at Euro 2000. Here he flourished in the first season, and formed a strong partnership with Olaf Mellberg in the second season. His stock grew, and Villa manager refused to sell, despite the calling of bigger things at Inter Milan. He returned to Villa after the world cup and was sidelined as an unpopular figure. At the start of the 03/04 season he was booooooooo by the Villa fans, and exacerbated their hatred by shushing them when he scored. Dropped and fined, he disappeared from the Villa lineup.  In late 2003 he decided to wind up the nations favorite, David Beckham, poking him in the eye and sparking a brawl in the tunnel. Following his international actions he was released by Aston Villa. Despite large interest from Europe Alpay didn't want to wait til the end of the transfer window to sign for a European club, so set off for South Korea. A move to the J League followed, before finishing his career at Koln.

Chicken' George Ndah

George worked his way up through the Crystal Palace youth system before signing for then championship side Swindon Town. Suffering from financial trouble, Swindon sold him to Wolves where he spent 8 seasons at the club. In 2003/2004, his best season, George scored 4 goals in the first three rounds of the FA Cup, including one which knocked out Newcastle United. ( I remember this vividly). Unfortunately injury followed and his career petered out after sustaining injury after injury. He scored 15 goals in 87 games.

1975 Clarence Williams Acuña Donoso born, Rancagua, Chile. (2000-03)

The man called "a monster" by then-boss Bobby Robson had a mixed time at SJP, scoring some vital goals and gave some steady performances in central midfield.

Beginning his career at the O'Higgins club in his native Chile, he moved on to Universidad and was capped by his country - appearing in the 1998 World Cup Finals.

Acuna's arrival on trial at SJP in September 2000 was slightly controversial, given that he'd just served a four month ban after testing positive for a banned substance in a World Cup qualifier against Peru.

A £960,000 transfer was swiftly concluded and Clarence debuted in a 0-1 defeat at West Ham in late October.

That made him the first Chilean to appear for us since the Robledos in the 1950s and he netted for the first time with a headed winner at home to Leeds on Boxing Day.

Spookily scoring in the same (44th) minute in the return match at Elland Road, he then continued his Yorkshire vendetta with an equaliser at Bradford City in March 2001.

Beginning the following season with a point saving effort at Chelsea, Clarence also scored in wins at both Everton and Spurs - although he appeared less frequently for the first team, slipping down the pecking order as the likes of Jermaine Jenas arrived

Acuna ended a nine month wait for a senior start with a fine display in a home win over Liverpool on New Years Day - a game in which United were without messrs Dyer, Speed and Solano.

However, he bore the brunt of the fallout that followed our FA Cup defeat at Wolves in the very next game, ending that season out of favour and having never featured in United's fourteen European ties.

Summer 2003 saw him linked with moves to Leeds United, Sporting Lisbon and various South American clubs, as Sir Bobby Robson  added Lee Bowyer to his midfield roster.

After a couple of third team games (for the club's short-lived Pontins League side, rather than the Premier Reserve League second string), Clarence was released from his contract in October 2003.

Press claims at the time had it that he would return home and be with his sick mother, but in the event he signed for Argentinean club Rosario Central.

Winning the last of his 61 caps for Chile in 2004, Clarence returned home the following year and joined Palestino. Two spells at, Union Espanola would then follow, sandwiching a spell at Concepcion.

2010 then saw Acuna reportedly join yet another Chilean club, La Serena.

PS: We couldn't pass up the chance to recall Acuna's brush with the law while a Magpie. Convicted of drink-driving, he was stopped while driving his car erratically - and dressed as Captain Hook...

If there are any photo's of this i would lose my shit  :mackems:

Oyvind Leonhardsen

http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQsLlg1aLWp70dwLBWR2m7rWnxhRK-_ZyMqCrpSC3EChGPK2EU-Xw

With a career spanning nearly 20 years, Noway's player of the year for 1994 enjoyed life in the English Premier League. The Championship Manager legend was part of Wimbledon's 'Crazy Gang' before being snapped up by Houllier for his new-look Liverpool for £3.5 million, quite a chunk of money. After a 3 season spell at Tottenham he endured brief spells at Aston Villa, Molde, Lyn Oslo and Rosenberg and now is currently a youth coach at his first club, Lyn Fotball.

In Norway, the expression "a Leo run" is derived from Leonhardsen's running capacity and his smart movements.

Roque 'Horror' Junior

http://news.bbc.co.uk/media/images/39389000/jpg/_39389876_roque_get200x245.jpg

One of the world's most terrifying defenders, if he was one of your team-mates. Somehow ended up with 48 caps for Brazil and a World Cup Winners medal in 2002 and a Champions League winners medal with AC Milan. Monkey's Heid brought him in to help keep Leeds in the Premier League ... There was excitement at Elland Road when Peter Reid brought Roque to Leeds on loan, but it was short lived as the team conceded 24 times in his 7 appearances and Roque was sent off on his début against Birmingham City. However, he did score two goals in a Worthington Cup game against Manchester United (Leeds lost 3–2) but his spell at Leeds was not considered a success

Fuck, here's one I forgot about

Danny Wilson

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/5d/Danny_Wilson_warming_up_%28cropped%29.jpg/220px-Danny_Wilson_warming_up_%28cropped%29.jpg

Danny Wilson, born 1991, while still having age on his side is struggling to make a name for himself in football. After early promise at Rangers he was viciously snapped up by Liverpool for £2million. Making just two appearances for Liverpool under King Kenny (of Catterick) he was farmed out to Blackpool. They gave him a handful of games and sent him back, leading him to join Bristol City on loan. Unfortunately he was better known as 'the third Wilson' rather than for his footballing ability and was sent back after playing only one game. Last month he was farmed out again, this time to Hearts of Midlothian, famous for 'being in Edinburgh', hoping to link-up with none other than Michael 'Gooey' Ngoo, one of Hearts potential loan targets.

Aaahh, a total CM legend.

Tonton Zola Moukoko

http://www.manutd.nl/fm2007/legendes/tonton.jpg

Moukoko joined Derby County as a 15-year-old[1] and featured in the 1999–00 FA Youth Cup.[6] When he signed a professional contract upon turning 17 in December 2000, it was reported that he turned down a competing offer from AC Milan.[7] With Moukoko playing in the youths and reserves at Derby it was thought likely by fans[8] and Moukoko himself[1] that he would break into the first team. Tonton along with Lee Camp and Gareth McKeown teamed up with their Derby County youth team coaches Alex Penny and Will Royal to appear in Goalkeeping Essentials [1] However, early in the 2002–03 season[9] he returned to Sweden after suffering family problems[2] and falling out with club management over his study arrangements.[1]

Moukoko trained with Hammarby IF[10] and then spent summer 2003 on trial with Falkirk FC. After he scored in a 3-0 pre-season friendly win over Queen's Park FC on 7 July 2003, the Scottish club's manager John Hughes was reported to have said: "I thought Ton Ton [sic] was brilliant, absolutely brilliant, if you had caught him in training the other day, you couldn't kick his backside, and he's a flying machine. Ton Ton [sic] lightens the place up, he is a great wee smiler and takes pelters from the boys for his hairstyles, but he is a really good kid."[11]

[edit]Return to Sweden

England manager Sven-Göran Eriksson and his assistant Tord Grip helped Moukoko to get a contract with Carlstad United BK in the Swedish football Division 2.[1][2] After a period of inactivity, he then signed a two year contract with IK Sleipner ahead of the 2007 season.[2] After the two years Moukoko began the 2009 season with Syrianska KF in Norrköping.[10]

[edit]Atlantis FC

Moukoko moved to the Finnish club Atlantis FC during the 2009 season.[10] He played in 10 games and failed to score as the club were relegated from the Ykkönen.[

Whatever happened to marco negri at rangers? Hadn't he scored about 30 goals by December then just left or something?

To answer my own question:

Marco Negri was bought by Rangers for 3.5 million and scored 23 league goals in his first 10 games.  Apparently he didn't really celebrate his goals and just shook people by the hand.

Sergio Porrini then hit him in the eye with a squash ball and he got some flesh eating bug and pneumonia.  Then retired.

 what a strange story. I was expecting the last sentence to be 'Then died.'

He trained with my team a couple of weeks ago. I have no idea how he was as I of course fainted the moment I understood it was him.
