On form HBA>Bale

Scary thing is, plenty on here would probably agree.

So in your eyes, you actually see clear daylight between the two players on top form?

Yes. Love Hatem but Bale's unstoppable on top form. Which he usually is.

I strongly disagree tbh. There's not much difference at all between Bale today and Ben Arfa at WBA last season for example.

I don't like player comparisons in terms of "who is better" anyway. Been having an argument recently with a bunch of people who argue that Gerard is significantly better than Lampard. Absolutely stupid statement imo.

IMO both Bale and HBA are on very similar levels in terms of talent. It's just that Bale, at the moment, who's progressing at a faster rate. He's clearly the better player at the moment.

HBA simply needs to improve his consistency and he'll be there alongside him, imo.

Bale's ahead of him simply due to the fact he's playing more than he is and is playing in a team that allows him to maximise his attacking potential to the maximum. Ben Arfa's been done no favours at all by the fact he's been basically a wing-back all season for us.

Ben Arfa's more talented IMO on his day. We just need him on the pitch with these new signings to see that day.

Bale isn't actually the best of dribblers, it's more about his raw pace that allows him to get past people. Whereas Ben Arfa is old school with his dribbling ability and has been blessed with a talent that little in the world posses.

Both of their styles are completely different too, it's probably a bit like a Messi and Ronaldo comparison in terms of how different there games are. Bale is all about his athletic ability and he's able to use that to great effect. Ben Arfa despite being a good athlete is not in the same league as Bale when it comes to a combination of pace, power, strength and height. Yet his pure footballing ability more than makes up for this.

That's the main key, imo.

Also, HBA is both footed and more creative.

Time to lock the relegationometer. I haven't watched it again yet, but on first viewing it looked like a good game between two clubs on the same level. Neither of us played particularly well but both of us were ok, and I thought the result was fair in the end. We suffered a lot for missing a centre-forward in the first half, you suffered a lot for missing Gouffran in the second. There's not a chance in hell of you getting relegated, and thank Christ our games are out of the way, because (a) you are going to f*** a lot of clubs up - I'm looking at Arsenal and Liverpool here (b) In a couple of weeks I will be able to post in here without being told to f*** off. Probably.

At this rate, next season will be an almighty punch-up at the top.

You need to start playing MYM now, though.

 good post. Thanks for not being a dick.

Bale's got 27 goals for Spurs in the last 16 months. That's what does it for me.

Ben Arfa has the skill on the ball, Bale has the athleticism.

I don't think Bale is technically the greatest, but when he gets the ball in certain situations, there's not a lot you can do to stop him. He just eats up the ground.

And he plays near every week.

Yep, if I watched them side by side I'd always say Ben Arfa is better, but Bale's got the goals and credit to him for that. Doesn't help Ben Arfa keeps getting injured

You say that as if Ben Arfa would get near that, even in his advanced role. Can't we just hold our hands up and admit what a great player the lad is, even if he does dive?

Completely self inflicted defeat.

Goal 1. A comedy of errors from start to finish.

Goal 2. Just a completely embarrassing episode.

Well beaten and luckily not the hammering we deserved.

Give over man.

Bale alone should have have buried us.

Bale has outrageous pace which Ben Arfa doesn't. Yes Hatem has great acceleration but he's not in the same league as Bale for speed. Ben Arfa is a technical dribbler who rarely just knocks it down the line and chases it like Bale does.

Hatem has had injury problems and until he can play a full season without injury and as people have said playing in a less rigid side it's unfair to judge him.

He was in great shape pre-injury this season but let down by Pardew and the rest of the team. I think he will flourish more in our current setup and I can't wait to see him back.

Disappointing result after a pleasing performance. Think the game was there to be won if we'd have attacked the second half a bit more. However, Gouffran's injury (pls b ok goof) seemed to shell shock us and we looked nervous from there on in.  Looking forward to our next game, we're a good team again.

Thought we played well, almost well enough for a point so overall thought it was the correct score.

I'm just praying Le Goof is ok, if so then i couldnt really care about the defeat. Think his linkup play is as important to us right now as any fit player we have.

Only just seen their first goal, it's a cracking hit to be fair. Seems like our wall is under instruction not to jump, seeing as it's 3 out of 4 not doing what comes naturally. Think it's a but harsh to blame Perch there, although he's made to look like a mug as the ball just swerves over his head.
