Dave
Haha, if that's anywhere near the truth then there's absolutely no chance he's going.

Dave
Charles Sale, you are a mug. He's been right on several big NUFC stories in the past tbh, some of which sounded ludicrous at the time of writing.
LoveItIfWeBeatU
I thought the rumour was it was a 1 year pay out if Ashley sacks Pardew? I can't imagine Ashley agreeing to any 8 year contract which would mean Pardew would be entitled to be fully paid up if he is sacked, after all, Pardew would be getting sacked for not achieving the targets in his incentive heavy contract. BlueStar
The only thing that makes me believe that is that "If I get sacked I get 10 million pounds" is seemingly the only thinking that could explain some of Alan's team selections.

Cajun
I just cannot see Mike Ashley of all people going "well you have had one good season, I'm going to give you a ludicrous contract when you would clearly accept a lot shorter one and leave myself having to pay a shit load of money if it doesn't work out". Not a big believer in ITK but the stuff being banded about previously makes a lot more sense.

Stuy_O
Not having it tbh, unless Ashley's football logic is so bad he didnt envisage one bad season in the 8 year duration.
Spudil
bad? this season is a lot worse than bad. I think (hope in truth) that Ashley will see this season as much, much worse than the "bad season" DL talked about.

Tachikoma
So, about that forum bet... what are the odds on Pardew not getting sacked?
Kanj
Ashley's a very cunning and shrewd businessman if he has control of something. He probably agreed to a heavy incentivized contract with multiple get-outs from either party and clauses to terminate with minimal fee payout to Pardew and his staff. Ashley may make some absolute bone-headed decisions, but he and his legal team would have protected the club from an 8 year payout man. 1-2 years are probably what I'd guess would be the maximum. Just read that article posted after I wrote this btw. I just can't see that holding any weight man.
Superior Acuña
I just cannot see Mike Ashley of all people going "well you have had one good season, I'm going to give you a ludicrous contract when you would clearly accept a lot shorter one and leave myself having to pay a s*** load of money if it doesn't work out". Not a big believer in ITK but the stuff being banded about previously makes a lot more sense. Totally. Ashley clearly held all the cards. Also, it says he gets paid 1.5mil a year - thought he was meant to be on a fraction of that.
Deuce
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/article-2320978/Mike-Ashley-pay-Alan-Pardew-10m-sacks-Newcastle-manager-year-deal-Charles-Sale.html The deal works both ways, so Newcastle would be looking for a Jose Mourinho-style release clause of more than £10m should another club want to poach the former West Ham boss. Mole_Toonfan
Don't believe it personally, Ashley doesn't want to give big pay offs to out going managers and then proceeds to agree to doing just that. Doesn't add up to me.
Yorkie
The reports from when he signed the contract said the same thing (severance would be full contract).
