In the 90s, there were Spanish, English, Italian, German, Dutch, French and Serbian winners of the CL.

The last decade, we've had only English, Italian, German and Spanish sides win it. 8 occasions that's been between Spain and England

There's a lot less diversity and I'd agree the football is generally much more tedious across the board.

“Alan Pardew was a gentlemen too. I think he was the perfect manager for Newcastle, the fans were disgraceful to him.

Think for example of Real Madrid. If we still went with pre-Bosman rules,  they'd have to pick 3 out of:

Ronaldo

Benzema

Bale

Modric

Varane

Rodríguez

Kroos

Navas

Kovacic

Danilo

Casemiro

(Marcelo has a Spanish passport IIRC)

Now besides the fact they'd be weakened themselves, all the players they'd be giving up would be at smaller teams, a lot of them in their nation's leagues,  strengthening them. That's how football was before the Bosman ruling.

This is a very good point.

On the other hand though, you get instances where in Scotland they had to have a certain number of Scottish players a few seasons back. I remember a Rangers manager Walter Smith (I think), at the time, saying he had kids from the Academy on the bench strutting around the place like they'd made it, because they were in the matchday squad when really they were nowhere near ready/good enough yet.

Crooks strikes again.

Fucking hell, he's picked an actual functioning team. Haven't seen any games this weekend so don't know if the right players are there but its a big step forward for him
