"He clearly wanted to drown his sorrows after the Anderlecht-PSG match. The match ended badly for Philippe Albert, and not just because of the 0-5 scoreline.

Victim of an illness in a cafe close to the Stade Vanden Stock, he was rushed to hospital around 2am to end the night under surveillance.

One witness, who was at the scene throughout said, "Philippe, one of our much-loved former players, joined our small group of regulars a bit after 1am. We soon realised he wasn't at his best. He had a glass or two in our presence and then he was in discomfort.

A policeman in the area, also in the cafe, was worried for his condition, because others had died already of suffocation. Two friends offered to take Philippe Albert to the hospital themselves, but the Police Officer refused, saying that in his condition, an ambulance would be safer.

Witnesses at the scene said they were "outraged" that a photo of Philippe Albert was taken of him being taken by ambulance. "We all said we wouldn't take any photos so that it wouldn't do him any harm, I don't know how this could happen", said our witness, "Afterall, everyone can have a bit too much to drink".

French League to go on strike over new tax rate.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24656110

A bunch of rich people striking over their tax rates. Man...

It's the players and not the clubs that should be paying the taxes.

problem is most of the clubs have agreed contracts with the players that specify the net amount they pay to the guy which means they're stuck with the hike. And tbh whats going to happen is simple everyone with a big wage is going to leave France (except from PSG) which will basically make the French league a 2 horse race with everyone else scrambling just to stay in business.
