Andy Carroll (now playing for Bordeaux)

Recommended Posts

I'll never forget how much of he beast he was for those 12 months. <3

Absolutely. If he is going to get his career back on track anywhere it is here. We are not getting the player we remember though. If we get a handful of games out of him I'd be surprised.

Seems like little risk except the wasted squad number.

That video just begs the question, why did West Ham let him go for free? Was his contract up?

Yes it was.

Yeah, but managed by Steve Bruce instead of Rafa.

This is tragic on so many levels. This signing. This whole summer. This notion of "let's get behind everything and hope for the best" also.

I don't think this is a terrible signing tbh. A bit apathetic towards it, but he's more than capable of causing teams problems as a sub and that's clearly what he'd be considering the money we've spent on other attacking options. On a one year deal it seems a no brainer, if he's going to give his all to stay fit for any club it's us.

Yip, Ashley's time here is up and so long as he is here I can't support my team and I can never sit in the same stadium as him but this seems a good signing to me.

He is out until mid-September.

Pay as you play? if he doesn't/can't play it would have been an absolute waste of time.

I suppose if anything it could be an entertaining season even if we get relegated.

He's on a basic wage.

So he is on £8.26 an hour.. I suppose its not too bad then.

Worst thing about this transfer is that it made me feel really old. When he left I was 19 and now I just turned 28 and it doesnt feel that long ago.

At work today I was thinking about where Newcastle would’ve been without Andy Carroll. Imagine that he wouldn’t be born and we had to rely on Harewood and Ranger to shoot us back to the PL. Also the money we got for him funded HBA, Cabaye, Ba, Cisse and some squad players. Ashley got so much credit for that deal without digging into his pocket and it probably formed his transfer market tactic.
