Fenham Mag
Nothing concrete at the moment, looks like another farce as usual under this regime. Anyway this is what .com have: The w#nga derby Speaking to the local paper last week about pitch work at Bloomfield Road, Blackpool Chairman Karl Oyston went public with news of a pre-season visit by Newcastle: "We will have a friendly against Newcastle which we are working towards but there is no desperate panic - everything is on schedule." There's no confirmation when or if this game will go ahead, but Blackpool's Championship season kicks off on the weekend of Saturday August 3rd, meaning that a date in July is on the cards, assuming police consent. PS: A few folks have queried whether the friendly is linked to the rumoured signing by Newcastle of Blackpool's Tom Ince, but the fact that both sides will wear the logo of a money lender on their shirts next season would seem to be a more telling factor. South Africa still tbc From the Cape Times newspaper, Tuesday: The city and Ajax Cape Town hope it’s a case of second time lucky as they try to get two English Premier League teams to play in Cape Town in July. The Cape Times understands that Ajax and the City of Cape Town are holding talks with Premiership giants Everton and Newcastle United. Everton, and Newcastle United could play Ajax in a triangular tournament in the Mother City on July 19-26, but Ajax and the city want to get all the paperwork and the necessary permission sorted out before they announce details of the matches. "We are working on getting two top English teams to play in the city in the off-season,” Ajax chief executive George Comitis said yesterday. "But we can’t divulge any details yet, because we want to get the necessary approval. Hopefully we will have everything sorted out by the end of the month.” Blackpool will be really canny like. Disco
Not convinced there's a great deal of money to be made in SA like. Some money > No money, god forbid they just had a normal preseason and worked on their shockingly poor fitness. Sure the powers that be won't be arsed where it involves going providing it isn't local after the Darlo debacle.

Wallace
It seems to me that Pardew (and the Club) seems to be really poor at pre-season. Last minute fixture arrangements, poor travel planning, not enough minutes on the pitch for the first team etc.
aussiemag
Why don't they just stay in Benton, travel to some local lower league sides and finish off with a couple of high profile friendlies at St James Park, against Dortmund and Ajax.

Guest neesy111
I'd rather they did a tour like the US one, that's the only good pre-season in terms of fitness we've had for years.

Last minute fixture arrangements, poor travel planning, not enough minutes on the pitch for the first team etc. It should really be up to Lambias and the rest of his team to arrange the pre-season schedule and this is where we struggle as he doesn't haven't an ounce of knowledge of football. Conjo
Bit early to cry about no pre-season plans? Not out of May yet. Doubt many teams have their plan ready, but any reason to whine is a good reason to whine these days I guess.
54
South Africa: fresh doubts While Newcastle's pre-season plans remain unconfirmed, rumours have circulated of a tournament in Cape Town involving two Premier League sides, with media claims in that country of interest from both United and Everton. The Toffees have now however announced that their pre-season preparations will involve a trio of fixtures against European opponents in the USA. And in a separate development, reports in South Africa claim that Fulham have withdrawn from a tournament in the South African city of Bloemfontein due to concerns over the state of the pitch and associated facilities. One Premier League club who will be playing in South Africa this summer are Manchester City, who have now announced games on July 14th and 18th. However both of their opponents will be South African club sides.
Rich
South African tour looks dead in the water, so we're apparently turning our attentions to a European training camp and some friendlies: NEWCASTLE United will not be heading to South Africa for pre-season this summer after talks to tour Cape Town broke down, writes MARK DOUGLAS. Well-sourced African reports had United taking on Ajax Cape Town and Everton at the end of July but that will not now happen, with Newcastle having stepped away from a possible three-team tournament. Everton had already tied up a tour in America as an alternative. The Journal now understands United – who had looked into America, the Far East and Brazil as possible tour venues – will be staying “short haul” for their pre-season games this year, with a European training camp and friendlies seemingly in the pipeline. The club are not yet in a position to confirm friendly dates but one intriguing possibility has already emerged. Blackpool have claimed United will be heading to the seaside in July for a Bloomfield Road friendly, although Newcastle have not confirmed that fixture. “We’ll have a friendly against Newcastle and we are working towards it, there’s no desperate panic as everything is on schedule,” owner Karl Oyston said – hinting at the possibility of a game close to the start of the campaign. One thing is for certain – breaking off negotiations in South Africa shows lessons have been learned from last summer. Then, the collapse of the mooted Vodacom Challenge saw them hastily arrange a tour of Germany and Austria, playing Monaco and Fenerbahce. It is also unlikely that they will return to the Algarve after last season’s tournament against Braga and Olympiakos was poorly attended. http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2013/06/01/61634-33412379/

Dr.Spaceman
Pre-season has little to no bearing on how we perform in the league anyway.
