Speaking of friendlies, what a joke the SPL is! Was either St Mirren or St Johnstone's captain rightfully moaning because Celtic have arranged a friendly with Liverpool the weekend of the second game of the season in Scotland, so they're going to have a game in hand from the beginning.

But how else are Celtic going to keep up with the rest of the teams without their money spinning friendlies.

Aye, St Mirren were due to play Celtic that weekend. They'll now have to find another date just so Celtic can play a "big" friendly. Just typical of one of the old firm.

What does it matter if they have a game in hand? Celtic will have the title wrapped up in November anyway

It's a bit shitty on St Mirren though when they've had a summer off, play one game, then have to wait another fortnight.

Tickets for Newcastle United's first pre-season friendly, at Motherwell, will go on sale to season ticket holders and Members on Monday.

The Magpies travel north of the border to Fir Park on Tuesday, 16th July (7pm kick-off), where they will take on the Scottish Premier League side who finished second last season and will compete in the qualifying round of the Champions League this term.

It is the opening fixture of United's summer schedule and prices are just £15 for adults, £10 for over-60s and students, and £5 for under-17s.

All concessionary sales must be supported with appropriate identification which must be produced upon request of any official at the visiting club on matchday. Failure to do so could result in entry being refused.

Blackpool on sale Monday too. Prices for this pre-season friendly are just £15 for adults, and £5 for over-60s and under-18s.

Is there anyway I can get my hands on some tickets, without having to pay 30 pound for a club membership.

Is it unusual to still be organising friendlies at this stage or is it par for the course?

Cynics will say it's poor planning, others will say it's prudent late opportunism by our saviour, Fat Mike.

Others will say it doesn't matter either way.

Any coach going to Rangers?

Aye, "Back Page". On that subject, they advertised a bus to the St Mirren game, then as soon as the Rangers game was confirmed, they no longer mentioned the St Mirren trip. I'm wondering if they scrapped that and decided to go to Rangers instead. Didn't want to start a new thread in matchday travel section.
