Huge game again for them today, win and they and its a big step towards safety (esp given their guaranteed 3pts against us) but draw/lose and they are well and truly in amongst it. Some other relegation rivals could well pick up wins today too.

Was there much trouble last time when loads on here were concerned?

Not really.

 Not having one big escort made sense. They still had the same amount of police around, but they were left to walk up to the ground in small numbers. Without one big group to target all the dafties didn't really know what to do with themselves.

Hopefully that'll be replicated with our visit.

As said, I think the no police escort was a success so no reason why the same cant happen with us.

I'd still rather travel in a big ish group though as wouldnt fancy wandering up there on my own but no big escort will be nice.

What's the most drawn games by a team in a premier league season?

Sunderland have 12 out of 24 so far

18 in the 42-match season, 17 in the 38-match (us once, Villa twice).

Can see them beating that

13 out of 26, its on

These are in trouble again.

Not nearly in enough trouble for a result at the end of the season. They'll flirt, but never actually be in enough trouble to get excited about. They are hard to beat, don't score enough but Defoe will get them the odd goal and the odd win will come when they need it.

I reckon they'll win more games than us between now and the rest of the season, probably pick up more point as well but we will still finish ahead of them.

You're right, they're a blockage the league can't flush no matter how runny they are.

The coppers I know said the non escort was a bit of a disaster and that the reason for the low arrest number was that the police couldn't get to the outbreaks of trouble quick enough. Said a number of soft target fans got hit on and there was nowt they could do. I was up at The Five Swans and there were shit loads of police and videoing in the hope that in the event of trouble they could pick them out from video taken earlier in the day.

It'll be another boring, predictable 3 promoted teams going straight back down affair. I'll go massively out on a limb and throw it out there next season will be exactly the same.

From what I've seen, they're okay.  They can play it along the ground and adjust their tactics. With better players Poyet would be decent. Kinda like Martinez.

however I'd say I was an independent Newcastle fan. Someone who knew nothing about the rivalry till recently.
