Guest
Hughes was a 7/10, Ramage 4/10, Dummett about a 5 imo.
Doctor Zaius
Aaron Hughes played 16 PL seasons for decent PL sides. Played 40+ games for us a season when we were finishing 3rd, 4th, 5th all while playing over a 100 times for his country. Paul Dummett doesn't even come close. ToonArmy1892
Hughes could also play anywhere across the back, to pretty much the same standard.
Guest
That 01-02 season with Nobby was brilliant.
Dokko
Ramage 5, Dummett 6 and Hughes 7....imo.
Guest
No chance. Probably not far off Robbie Elliott 2001 onwards level, not fit to lace 1993-1997 Robbie Elliott’s boots. Edited July 14, 2021 by Optimistic Nut
Guest HTT II
Above average defender, awful footballer. Shouldn’t be anywhere near this level along with most of them. A canny fella though apparently and good on him having the career he’s had, he’s been playing since he was 5 and put more work in getting where he’s at then a lot so kind of deserves these kind of deals, far more than NUFC actually deserve good eggs like him ironically. Consortium of one
Makes a fine 6th CB in a 3 CB tactic.

It's a compliment surely? It's basically the same as saying Coloccini was a poor mans Carles Puyol.
Joey Linton
He's poor. Still better than Lewis though.
Yorkie
Dummett can be fantastic on his day, and nowt gets past him. But, given the amount of games he's had, you'd have thought a better club would have been in for him were he not average at best.

Kanj
We need a fullback who can defend more than one who attacks. I’d happily stick him back there and let him do his thing. Slide tackle people into oblivion.
Cf
Put Dummet in the team (assuming match fitness which obvs isn't a given) and I think he's quite low on our list of problems for the time being whilst being a clear upgrade on whatever else is going on. Conjo
Wouldn't be opposed to giving him a chance in a back 3 together with Fernandez & Schar. As a fullback I'd rather stick with Ritchie tbh.

Hanshithispantz
Dummett's been our best left back for like half a decade or something. Until we sign someone else I cannot see why we wouldn't play him there.
Conjo
I feel people say that until he's actually back in the team and remember how fucking shit he is at everything except 1 good sliding tackle every game.

The sliding tackles which are only necessary because he’s either been caught out by a ball over his head, or he’s ran through treacle and has to try and catch up. As always, people recollect a long-term injured player as much better than they actually are. It’s also pointless trying to bring him into the team because he’ll be crocked again after a week or two. Get Lewis in the team and work with him to make him a useful player. Our back four should be Lewis, Schar, Fernandez and Manquillo. Any other combination is just totally wrong. The Butcher
He's a better option than Clark as the left sided CB. That's not a sign of quality mind

Not really, it's always been like this with Dummett. He gets pelters because he's awful on the ball but with him in the side we mirraculiously stop been torn to shreds every time a team runs down the left wing or targets the back post. He's not a great left back but until he's replaced (or if Lewis is actually good) then not playing him leaves us wide open defensively on the left.
