You could get that lot for less than 25 million quid, what a difference they would make to us (imagining Matip is good?) Austin will get goals for sure. Shelvey I rate, but Swansea fans have turned on him - I think he's better than what we have though. Matip can't be any worse than Colo. It all makes sense to give it a go. Provided that it would leave more funds available to spend elsewhere, where our main defensive issues lie (central midfield and left back). Wonder how many we'll toss away before we make any meaningful changes to the squad. From the BBC interview with McClaren: Q. Everyone knows what this club is like, they don't say anything until a few hours after we have signed someone. I'm not saying that means we have someone in for medical now, just saying that what the club says regarding transfer to the media means fuck all, they will do what they want and when they want and won't tell them a fucking thing. They're both the worst players in our line up as of now, but I just can't see them being dropped Especially Colback. Too much is made of us needing "english players".
