Incognito
That Spanish centre back with the innacurate long balls has rescinded his contract at Sevilla to join an unnamed Prem club. Has he been linked with us? Just saw this tweet by a Norwegian journalist that follows La Liga: Petter Veland @PetterVeland 30s Official: Sevilla announced 10 min ago that defender Juan Cala rescinded his contract with Sevilla to travel to Premier Leauge. Newcastle? Sounds like what a Scouser calls you if he doesn't like you.
Jtm_92
I know it's a bit premature but i think a major clearout will happen in the summer not going to bother suggesting a revamp in the squad will happen
Teasy
Why would a clear out happen Unless you mean the likes of Obertan, Marveaux, Ameobi, Gosling ect?
Guest bimpy474
Why would a clear out happen It wont, because after a clear out you need to spend money to replace the cleared out players. We wont.
Jtm_92
sorry, clear out was the wrong choice of words but i expect 4 or 5 players to leave in the summer

There shouldn't be a clear out anyway. Unless we're talking about Obertan, Shola, Gosling ect (or Pardew, Kinnear and Ashley).

Good players will not come and our best players will start to leave, Remy for example. No ambition! The stadium and supports alone can´t attract and keep players here. TRon
Shearer told talkSPORT: “They’re in a decent position in the league, but they are not going to finish in the top four so the two cups are the only things they had a chance of wining. “So I don’t get them resting players in those competitions because these are the trophies that the likes of Newcastle need to go for. Resting players in cup competitions I just don’t get. “It’s not as if they are in Europe and playing 65 games this season. They went out at the first hurdle in the FA Cup, and played three games in the Capital One Cup. I'm not sure we actually rested any players in the cup, we just went out because Pardew lost the tactical battle. In the FA Cup, embarrassingly to a baby faced rookie who didn't know his arse from his elbow.
AyeDubbleYoo
I don't think any fan really wants to rest players in the cup, especially not the FA Cup and especially if you're a mid-table team.

Bit of both, we rested Krul, Remy and Williamson from the start and the moment we went ahead Pardew handed Cardiff the tactical advantage by taking Gouffran off for Obertan. Kanj
All this talk of a massive rebuilding of the squad this summer....classically Pardew contradicts saying we would look to bring in 3-4 players?
Ronaldo
1-2 usually means 0 arrivals so 3-4 probably means 2 at most. I'm excited.
Big Geordie
There will be no mass-rebuild. It'll be bare minimum.
LoveItIfWeBeatU
There will be no mass-rebuild. It'll be bare minimum. I know Mike Ashley likes to gamble but he could well be gambling with NUFC's Premier League status if we don't buy quite a few decent players in the Summer. Like I said the other day, he'll risk losing the £70m TV income if he doesn't spend in the Summer.
Ronaldo
When does this £70m actually come into play?
LoveItIfWeBeatU
When does this £70m actually come into play? I assume the clubs receive the money at the end of the season. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/premier-league/10072297/New-Premier-League-TV-deal-promises-100m-prize-money-for-next-seasons-title-winners.html

midds
Why bother investing? They'll "go with what they've got" this summer and invest, if necessary, next January if it's looking hairy. Minimal investment to ensure survival.
Dave
When we finished 5th the board thought we'd simply do it again if we kept the same players. If we finish top half this season I don't see why the strategy will be much different. I do think we'll probably replace Cabaye though, and even our lot can't fail to notice we won't have any strikers.
LoveItIfWeBeatU
My point is if he doesn't bother he could well be kissing goodbye to the £70m TV money and and his asset (the club) will be hugely devalued by being relegated. If all he cares about is staying in the Premier League then he's going to have to spend money to do that. If he doesn't then we'll probably suffer due to his stupidity.
