ponsaelius
I'd seen Wijnaldum, Thauvin play and remembered Mitrovic scoring against Arsenal. Had never heard of Mbemba or Toney.
henke
Anecdotal evidence it may be, but when I had a season ticket I was constantly surprised by how little notice the people sat around me took in what went on outside of a Saturday afternoon at SJP. Many a time people didn't even know why certain players weren't present (they'd been injured all week, or were suspended, or were about to leave etc). Shitloads of our fans seem to get their information purely from the Chronicle or a red top daily newspaper. Sorry but they'll know f*** all about players from Holland, Belgium or France and don't pretend to. I spend far too much time on here and watch a reasonably high amount of football on TV and I don't know anything about the players we've signed. The vast majority of matchgoing fans are far simpler than the world football experts you seem to think they are. Superb and spot on! I was surprised by how little attention most people pay at the match. Myself included at times to be honest. Aside from the fact my seat was in the front row and useless for understanding what's happening tactically during the game, most of those around me were that drunk they'd be hard pressed to name goal scorers five minutes after full time. I once embarrassingly told the lads on our bus I had to record motd so I knew what had happened, they all recorded motd too.
Disco
I'm hip as owt and I've seen nowt of them all bar Wijnaldum in the World Cup where he flew under the radar. You'd heard of Mitrovic and Thauvin? Aye but heard of and being able to form an opinion having a watched are totally different.
Guest palnese
Eh? Quite a few on here thrive on negativity. We could win the league and some would still moan. Colback's fault he got sent off there. As this is N-O I'm pretty sure this is serious. Bolasie has f*** all end product. People keep forgetting that hugely significant fact. Well, 6 assists in the league. It's a decent amount, nowhere near deserving of the praise he's getting Such a N-O post. Please tell me those last couple of comments are in jest! Not sure why they would be, Mclaren shouldn't have been allowed anywhere near this job to he honest. Beside the point though, giving him stick when we're 0 games into the season is beyond pathetic. Well, it's N-O, what did you expect? Kudos. Some love their negative agendas on here. I'm just sick of it all - the constant flow of negativity. I'm turning into one cynical bastard myself and I can't stand it.

Altamullan
Still wouldn't be surprised to see Austin rock up, and Cisse slope off. Feel kinda strangely underwhelmed by both possibilities.
olliemort
The worrying thing about today's defensive performance is fat mike might think we will get away with signing no more defenders when in reality big mike is very close to the team still even though he doesn't seem to be rated by McClaren. I hope to god they care to realise at this stage that taylors a ticking time bomb from picking up a season ending injury. On the Austin thing I would much prefer him than cisse, thought he was excellent whenever I have seen him play. I wonder if we signed him what that would mean...would we go two up front. Hard to know

Hard to know Doubt we will play two strikers; at least not very often. Think I prefer Austin too, but underwhelmed as strangely 'bonded' to Mitro already. Actually since that pic at Hilton, when he looked like a proper Gateshead lad, just strolling out of Wheelers...albeit 20 years earlier (...must have Chancel). Attachment reinforced today, when raw as he is he was totally up for it and honest. What you see, is what .... shatters yer cheekbones!
Dave
Think we might bring in a young centre back if Williamson goes, but otherwise I reckon it's over.
ponsaelius
I've been convinced all summer we'd sell Cisse and sign Austin if we can pull the fees closer together. Still think it will happen. Don't particularly want it to.

Teasy
£3.6m?, yeah not a chance they're accepting that for Cisse.
toontownman
If we are selling Cisse we arguably need two strikers in, that said I wouldn't be that disappointed with Austin in, Cisse out. I am fast running out of patience with Cisse and he is getting on in years. It hasn't helped he has had zero service and I think he could still be useful for us, given service but given the choice of him or Austin I would pick the latter, who is in form and I think offers more. We still need a pacey striker that can create something out of nothing, not sure about the something out of nothing but Rolan definitely has pace, versatility and potential so it doesn't surprise me to see us still linked. None of the above helps us fix our need for another defender.
NG32
£3.6m?, yeah not a chance they're accepting that for Cisse. 30 years of age with a dodgy knee. I dont think we can command a hugh price for him.

I'd rather keep him anyway, not particularly convinced Austin would be any better.

Teasy
No idea about any dodgy knee (has he ever failed a medical) but he scores goals and still has 2 years left on his contract. £3.6m is a pathetic amount, if he only had a year left then maybe we should consider that sort of fee, but not right now.
