Skirge
Newcastle close in on Siem de Jong as he confirms plans to leave Ajax Saturday 11 Jan 2014 11:52 am Newcastle have been cleared to sign Holland star Siem de Jong after he confirmed plans to leave Ajax this month. The Magpies have been tracking De Jong for months, and made an enquiry into his availability over the summer. The 24-year-old ruled out a transfer then, but he has now confirmed plans to leave Ajax, and Newcastle are back in the race for the player. ‘I plan to leave Ajax,’ he told the Dutch media. That is my intention. I am ready for a new challenge.’ De Jong has 18 months left on his current deal and Ajax are keen to do business as soon as possible. It’s thought that Newcastle have been kept up to date with the situation – and plan to test the water with a £5million offer in the coming days. Ajax are believed to want closer to £8million, but De Jong’s admission that he is desperate to depart has weakened their hand. http://metro.co.uk/2014/01/11/newcastle-close-in-on-siem-de-jong-as-he-confirms-plans-to-leave-ajax-4258546/

Smal
Really liked Siem de Jong whenever I've seen him (which is about twice). Also seems like more of a "Pardew" behind the striker player than Cabella does tbh.

sempuki
Worst rumour yet - we want Zouma according to the People. I know he was linked with Aubameyang in the summer but there is no way Ashley will spend over £10m on a young centre half.

Yaron
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-hope-beat-chelsea-kurt-3014214 Newcastle reckon they can beat Chelsea to the signing of Saint-Etienne's Kurt Zouma. The Blues have been trying to close a deal for the 19-year-old centre back and are confident they will land him at the end of the season. But the Toon hope the fact they can offer a better chance of first team football - and also have a host of French speakers at the club - could give them the upper hand. Zouma has represented France at every level up to under-21 level and Arsenal have also been monitoring his progress in Ligue 1. But Newcastle are joining the race as they begin to plan for the future - with uncertainty growing over whether defenders Fabricio Coloccini and Steven Taylor will remain at the club. They are also keeping an eye out for new right-back options as United fear PSG will move for Mathieu Debuchy. The French outfit are looking for a new first choice full-back and one of the men being considered as an option on Tyneside if he leaves is Manchester City's Micah Richards. Stifler
Zouma. It would be coup even if Chelsea land him since Real Madrid, Barca etc are all interested in him. We have no chance, if we ever did then the time to get him was 1-2 years ago.
