The Managerial Merry Go Round™ - Eric ten Hag Sacked

So let's see whether Man Utd will go in for him now. Neville said they wanted to see what he does in the Champions League with PSG. Now that he's failed in that, will they approach him now or wait for Ten Haag at the end of the season?

for me, in reality, Man Utd are slowly turning into, if not already, Sports Direct United Lite. Ridiculuos how they have stagnated and got worse this season.

If it’s all Rafa’s fault, why can’t Lampard turn it around?

Rafa got more points in his last five games as Everton manager than Lampard has got in his first five.

Sir Edward Howe took time to settle and you should afford Lampard similar.

In theory, his form should start to pick up now. For all the talk of our January signings, Howe started at a much lower ebb, and I think our squad on paper was much worse January 1 than his is now. There's no doubting this will be a hugely important moment in his managerial career. He has to decide how much pragmatism factors into things. Is he choosing a style because he thinks it'll win or is it because he wants to do it his way. Everton have potential fall guys in Leeds and Brentford, but if it goes tits up he's relegating a big football club. They may not have achieved a great deal in the modern era, but they're a fixture of the top flight. I genuinely can't picture them in the Championship.

Another overrated manager: Pochettino.

Trippier spoke very highly of him in the TG podcast. I think he's just not the type of manager that handles big egos well.

Yes, but people talk about him almost like he's on a par with the likes of Klopp and Pep. And gets linked with the likes of Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, Man Utd, etc.

He hasn't won much. Compare him to someone like Emery or Allegri....

Pochettino is regarded as highly as them - he's clearly not achieved anywhere near them.

No one said he is failure or that he didn't do a good job at Spurs; he's just not as good as people say he is.

I think he is the same type of manager as Rafa and Klopp in the sense that he is more suitable for a working class club than Madrid or PSG. He is still young for a manager and the work he did at Spurs was outstanding. His work at Southampton is also commendable.

But agree with you that his body of work as of now is not of the same level of Klopp or Rafa.

Sounds similar to another manager we know who is still getting decent jobs, 22 years down the line.

Guest HTT II

Clark showed promise as a young manager early on in his career, but he surrounded himself with people way past their sell by date by the time he was making it through the lower leagues with Huddersfield and continued that. Plus he has a drink problem…

Seems a long time ago he was doing mint at Huddersfield.

He was doing great whilst he had Derek Fazackerley working with him.

What he did at Huddersfield was insane. How he went from that to Birmingham and then the absolute nosedive after I have no idea. Is a crying shame imo. Clark was involving himself in management whilst he was still playing for us, getting involved in Walker Central etc. Then obviously reserve team coach here with Roeder then to Norwich with Roeder and doing so well at Huddersfield.
