The word is that the fan backlash has made them withdraw the offer to Keane and they're giving Martin O'Neill another year. If a fanbase is overwhelmingly negative towards a manager from the word go, it's nearly always doomed to fail, see us with Bruce, Mackems with Beale, Rangers with Martin, Forest with Ange. Moose
A very lazy appointment by Celtic, they must be terrified of hiring non-Irish managers after that bonehead Nancy nearly kamikazied their season
Ben
Robbie Keane packed his job in as well to go for the Celtic role, I wonder if that pro Palestinian fan group convinced the chairman not to appoint him

Moose
Leaving aside all the Israel stuff, Robbie Keane finished 2nd in the Hungarian league with Ferencvaros, they'd won 7 in a row until then. If he wasn't Irish the Celtic board wouldn't even use his CV to wipe their arse with.

This is a much greater test for Iraola. Who else have been able to replicate "the inhalers"? We're talking about one of the very best managers the league has ever seen. I don't think this set of players would handle the load as well as the team Klopp had at their peak anyways. In recent years under Klopp they dropped off when trying to replace some of those players, as some of the new ones couldn't keep up. Also worth mentioning that the meta has shifted quite a bit since their peak. Take Guardiola for instance, he kept changing up his style a bit to adjust to new metas, because the thing that worked so well 5 years ago doesn't necessarily work all that well anymore, atleast not for the top teams competing for trophies on all fronts. Those inhalers are probably still lying around somewhere.
Village Idiot
Florentino Pérez re-elected Madrid president with 65% of the vote. This means Mourinho is back! This seems a bit of a backwards appointment to me? Can't say I kept track of Mou after he left the PL, but his stint there was a bit of a disappointment and I felt the game had gone past him.

It's us hiring souness because we had players who did what they wanted Lets see if Jose can get Mbappe and Vini to defend.

Yeah, it's totally a vibes appointment. The feeling around the club is that the dressing room is out of control so let's get back Mou, that will teach'em, plus Barça fans hate him so that's another plus. (Personally, I always love a great villain in sports, and he honestly wasn't that successful at Madrid - Zidane and Ancelotti did far better).
