When we last won it, no-one had won it more times than us, and of the 6 with more wins than us, 5 of them have won it more times than we ever have since we last won it. FFS stop trying to make our record over more than half a century look better than it is

  You're clueless, you're trying to make it look like going out in the 3rd and 4th round of the FA Cup is normal for us, it wasn't until Pardew arrived.

In my lifetime it's fairly normal to do shit in the cups like. Not as bad as recently obvs.

How old are you?  I remember going to Wembley 3 years running in the FA Cup, 2 finals and a semi.

Why does what we've done previously matter so much? It should have absolutely no bearing. There's too much past gazing from football fans in general imo. "But we did this in 82!1!" Who fucking cares seriously?

I sort of agree. Also, in general only one team can win the cup so it's obviously quite rare.

That said, I agree with people who think a mid table side like us should prioritise the FA Cup, don't understand why we're that scared of losing a couple of league points.

Yep I was at all three too, came over from Florida where I was living at the time for the Semi versus Chelsea (which was the only one we actually pshowed up on the pitch for, didn't deserve to lose that game fucking

Poyet the bastard, would have probably gone on  won the cup that year, against a poor Villa side in the final had it not been for that bastard), even Souness also got us to the Semi too ffs

Fine, completely ignoring what we've done under previous regimes, going out at the stage we have and to the teams we have is fucking shite.

2 league points could equal 4 or 5 places. Which equates to several million pounds of revenue from prize money.

The regime see that prize money as being far more important than the joy a cup run would bring to the supporters. That's why I for one want nothing more to do with them.

Being a football supporter is about wanting to win games, not line the pockets of a billionaire.

If we lose tonight, its 1 win in 8 games which is shocking and still pardew will be fine.  :(

I found this transcript via the mirror after the sunderland game.

Question: "It’s a tough question to ask you, but is the club, as it stands, capable of making permanent signings?"

Pardew: "Well..."

Press officer: "I think that’s an unfair one to ask the manager."

Q: "But it’s two transfer windows without one now and Alan said..."

Pardew: "I’ve got no comment to make on that one.”

Q: "You said at the start of last week that the club can’t not replace Yohan, but that’s exactly what happened."

Pardew: “I didn’t particularly say in this window though. I said, you know, we’ve got to get players of that class, there’s no doubt about that. So don’t try and angle that for this window because I think that’s unfair on me.”

Q: "You said, and I quote: ‘We need to bring someone in, for sure. We can’t lose someone of his quality and not replace him. That would leave us vulnerable’. Do you stand by that?"

Pardew: "Well, I’ve said it, ain’t I? But I’m meaning in the long-term as well as the short-term, that it’s the quality we need. And, you know, today has been a tough day for us and I don’t really want to add any more to it, to be honest.”

Q: "Part of the problem you’ve got is that if you don’t speak out against not getting a replacement it makes it look as though you’re going along with the decisions the board is making and therefore you get criticism heaped on your shoulders and take the blame for that."

Pardew: “Yeah, I’m a professional manager. You know, if I was in charge, solely, of transfers, the answer might be different, but I’m not.”

Q: "It does feel sometimes that you’re being asked to manage with your hands tied behind your back."

Press officer: “These are all quite unfair questions.”

Q: "No they are not, it is the biggest issue. Unfortunately the manager is the only person who will speak for the club."

(Silence)

Q: "Alan, is there a collective blame for today, from the top of the club, right down to on the pitch?"

Pardew: “The only way I can answer what has happened today is that it’s a disappointing day for the club.”

Q: "What do you say to Mike Ashley and Joe Kinnear when you’re having those discussions on Friday and it’s clear you’re not going to get a replacement (for Cabaye)? Do you make your opinions clear on that?"

Pardew: “I think I’ve made my opinion very clear this week and all the rest of it is confidentiality.”

Q: "How do you lift yourself?"

Pardew: “I’ll be alright.”

Not that I really care anymore. But I hope we lose every fucking game untill this prick get sacked.

But he'd have met his objectives for the season, even if we were to lose every game from here on. We'd be safe and in the Premier League. Sure, not the dizzying heights of 8th, but I'm sure a few scrappy wins here and there should prop us up mid-table.

Without going into particular decisions or particular quotes, the guy has been disgustingly, appallingly bad recently and tonight is a real opportunity to sort a couple of things out. A goal, for example, would be nice.

He's gonna be praying that Cisse isn't a total carthorse tonight.
