I mean, Ashworth was wanking himself off silly at the thought of coming to us. He was an instant yes.

The negotiations were with the club over his exit fee, not with Ashworth himself.

It's comments like these that make me hope that Manchester Fucking United implode and go back into nothingness ;)

He just seems like a very honest manager. I don't hate that he's answering questions with the truth.

You're only seeing clips of what he's saying as well, as the media will snip the negative bits for headlines. There is plenty of positivity coming from him.

I disagree with changing his ideas temporarily as well. He's addressed this a lot. It's better to implement this system now and suffer short term instead of bluffing our way into Europe playing hero ball with Fernandes and Rashford. We'll just be back to square one at the start of next season.

Fully agree on your points about Rashford though. His sale benefits us in every way possible. The team, the negativity in the media, the money aspect etc. He has to go. Even when he's not playing it's a dark cloud over every game and the first question Amorim is asked is usually about Rashford.

On his presentation, I watched 12 minutes of a press conference and virtually all the time he was literally wringing his hands. I've also seen him seated on the sidelines, head down in a picture of misery, staring at the ground. It's not just the media distorting things. And while there may well be lots of positive messages, it's not what you say, it's the way that you say it.

I can't see that it's so necessary to implement his system right away. He can surely just use the existing system, and give himself time to get to know the players and strike up good relationships with them. His current state of urgency just looks like insecurity and an anxious need to stick with what is familiar ground to him.

Eddie Howe has spoken of the peculiar isolation which attaches to the position of Head Coach / Manager. The responsibility is huge, but the people above you have often never been in your position at all, and can only offer limited advice and support. I think Amorim is really feeling that at the moment.

I have business in port de mos Portugal, For what it’s worth, to a man everyone who works in the factory (non benfica fans apart) all say the same thing, Amorim has taken the money and fair play but he’s a mile out of his depth

sporting is a completely different beast to any premier league team, he may last this season but he won’t be there end of next season

Eddie Howe showing Manchester United what they are missing

Basically arguing that Howe would be the manager to help enable their players to perform or transition, using Schar and Joelinton as examples.

Amorim to me just feels like potentially the right man, but at the wrong time.

I get that managers have a way they want to play but so far it seems like he's on a hiding to nothing.

Surely you have to implement a system to maximise performances from the players you've got. In the medium to long term by all means build towards something different but in the here and now the priority has to be with the hand you've been dealt.

There's obviously deeper issues at the club that need sorting out, but I don't see this ending well.

It's such a shit show there though that he'll get to walk away without any real damage to his reputation and with a nice payoff too.

Wasn’t the support for Eddie Howe chiefly in the form of despicable Dan who was promptly sacked for recommending a premier league experienced manager, rather than having a list of foreigners. The dirty rat knew better.

I’m cautious not to pick fault and laugh at them too much since I’m desperate for a league win at old and broken Trafford.

Amorim has took over a group of players who in the last two seasons have finished 3rd and 8th and won the FA cup and league cup. All this it's a tough job is bullshit. Howe and Emery have came in at a similar time of the season under worse circumstances and turned it round in months.

If Man Utd finish below 8th it's a huge failure.

Turnaround under Howe wasn’t instant either, it’s ridiculous how many people are already talking about Amorim getting sacked. Him completely dropping Rashford is a good sign that he could be the one who finally realises that wholesale changes are needed and players not trying is unacceptable. And their performances haven’t even been as bad as the results.

You're the first person on here to say this, so fair play.

Turgid against Arsenal and Wolves, and the performance against Ipswich wasn't great. Aside from that we've actually been happy with the performances, just not the results.

Frailty from set pieces is something that badly needs addressed though. We concede two goals straight from corners in two consecutive games with two different keepers.

Why do people think dropping Rashford is some masterstroke? He's just the latest string of players that's been made a scapegoat. Zirkzee attitude and effort on the pitch looks worse than anything Rashford does. Guy scored in opening 2 Prem games under Amorim when starting, and since then, they've scored 4 in 5.

I find it amazing the buy in Amorim has got from so many people because he talks well :D Think he has dazzled Ratcliffe in a conversation too. He's not going to be allowed to make wholesale changes, because there's a lot of money tied up in this squad, and it's a relatively new squad :D  Take their best starting XI on paper arguably:

Onana: Yoro, De Ligt, Martinez: Mazzaori, Ugarte, Mainoo, Shaw: Garnacho, Fernandes: Hojlund

One player there (Shaw) taken out. Rest is new people in past 18 months or the club captain on a new mega deal :D

I think any sacking is a while off, and obviously dependent on no turn around in form which could easily happen.

But they've got an absolute idiot in charge who has no idea how to run a club.

It could easily turn messy.

True, but we were the 4th or 5th best team from when Howe took over. Just saying that Man U finishing below 8th would constitute a failure.
