Not totally convinced that the improvements are down to leaving Man United or leaving the Premier League. Considering Sancho and Rashford haven't massively improved I'd hazard a guess that it's the league more than anything. 

 

Think McTominay would have been an ideal Longstaff upgrade though.

Howe has been here 3 and a half seasons. Look at what the 3 managers you mentioned spent in their short time at Man Utd. Then allow for transfer inflation. Howe has didn't the 8th most in the PL since he's been here. Your 3 were in the top 3 spenders when at Man Utd

Genuinely think Mainoo could be a Howe-type player. Excellent physical attributes, positional versatility (to a degree). Wouldn’t be in ahead of the starting three (obviously) at the moment, but if, as seems likely to me, Longstaff leaves, he significantly improves depth.

 

The article in the Sun (aye, I know, I know…) today claims they’re “certain” to sell him and Garnacho. Says £55m for Mainoo, which is probably a bit too steep IMO, but get it closer to £40m and I like it.

 

Relatively low wages too, so could probably offer him a substantial increase without too much bother.

 

Imagine taking a 20-year old England international off Man Utd…
