In watching them at the summer series I'm surprised they view Benjamin Sesko as any kind of priority.

Their central midfield options are by far the bigger weakness. They might as well stick with Cunha, Diallo, and Mbeumo as a three. Manuel Ugarte looks slower than a week in jail. I will never understand what they saw in him to think he'd be a good signing. He was decidedly average for PSG and looked miles off it in the Champions League at St James' Park. The defence also looks painfully disorganized. It's mad how consistently they look undone by a direct ball.

Aye, their entire team revolves around Fernandez but he has very little support, if Joelinton marks him out of the game then Gordon and Elanga with have a field day running in the gaps behind their wing backs

Their wings do look dangerous but if you cut off their supply through Fernández then they'll struggle. I genuinely think they'd be better off going for someone like Watkins too, someone proven at this level, because the entire weight of the club on the shoulders of Sesko and needing him to score goals straight away will not help his progression at all.

They’ll sign a midfielder for sure. You could see last season they’d get ran all over in the middle.

no way their manager doesn’t want that remedied.

I don't think we will this summer.

Bruno, Casemiro, Mainoo, Ugarte and Collyer on the books for two positions. It's an area we need to strengthen but I can't see it happening until next summer.

I don't understand why they don't go big on a midfielder or two that can get the ball off the defenders and then through to the two 10s they play with.

All game yesterday this was the issue they had. Ugarte and Mainoo weren't able to find the space to get on the ball and connect the defence to the attack. Fernandes when dropped into the midfield also doesn't quite do that either as he's too aggressive trying to play balls in behind from deep.

Their system essentially plays with two central midfielders and so they really need two very good ones in there, as they will mostly be going up against teams with three midfielders. Thought Garner, Gueye and Iroegbunum controlled the centre of the pitch relatively easily as they had a lot more energy, speed and power.

If we're doing a deep dive of pre-season analysis, I'd say you boys are relegation candidates this year?

I think the fundamental difference here Mr Frog is that the evaluations encompass last season too, which was a particular nadir for your club.

Last season goals were an issue. After the relegated teams only Everton scored fewer than yourselves which is quite damning given how poor their forward options have been (Iliman Ndiaye aside). The problem is, your defensive numbers weren't markedly better than the teams around you. I don't think this is a case of pushing one lever and watching the wheels turn. I can see the new attackers having some impact, such as catching teams on the break and making you more of a threat in transition, but those games at Old Trafford where you need to control things may still be your undoing.

The squad also still looks bloated to me. If you end up getting Sesko, what becomes of Zirkzee and Mount? No one seems to want Hojlund. Is more trust about to be handed to the local lads like Mainoo and Collyer? Are they ready for that? It's a lot of uncertainty. I saw you linked to Morten Hjulmand but that felt like lazy reporting. I don't think one player fixes this, but at the same time I see it as odd that there's a clear priority issue that needs fixing and it's being disregarded.

How much would that cost and how much is left in your budget

They're Man  U. They can spend what they like. The Premier League would never come down on them for anything. Not ever.

I don't think even Froggy would disagree that it's a bit ridiculous to have cried poor and needing to sack multiple low level staff only to then sign over £200m worth of forward talent without any notable sales to offset that.
