People are trying to spin this as a negative against Man United when we've let a guy who's never played for us go and fulfil his potential, and made £12.6m in the process. Everyone is a winner in this scenario IMO.

I long for the day when we’ve so much talent at youth level our guys sod off and get picked up by other CL clubs tbh.

From an outsiders perspective, Man Utd seem to be like a guy in a casino trying to win his money back.  Terrible judgement and a bit desperate.

I hate to say it, but Froggy is right in this instance.  Brighton are one of the best at spotting and developing talent, and they sold Gyokeres for £1m.  

 

Sometimes there isn't an obvious progression for a player at one club and it takes a transfer for them to get the game time they need to reach their potential.

Who knows. If we have a valuation of a player and don't want to go any higher I respect that and it's a departure from the Woodward days where we'd just add £10m on top of the asking price. I don't know why we're still farting about with the same player if this is the case though.

 

Decent sources for us said the fee was pretty much agreed but the structure wasn't. I trust Orny over them though.

Yeah I hear you on that, obviously you lot have paid some outrageous fees recently, can fully understand being more cautious with things. 

 

What are you expecting for the rest of the summer? Seems like your having some issues moving players on?

Wouldn't it be great if we could see into the future though?  The important thing is that you get something if they turn out good.

Expecting Garnacho to be sold for a decent price. Expecting Rashford to go on loan to Barca. Expecting Antony to go on loan again as Betis can't afford his fee. Expecting to sell Sancho for peanuts, like £10m and then end up having to pay him half of that to pay off the rest of his contract.

 

I reckon we'll get Mbeumo done and then someone like DCL in a panic when we fail to get a striker to support Hojlund.

Doesn't feel like it's enough, don't get me wrong you won't be as bad as last season but I don't think you have enough to push for CL (which has to be the minimum aim for you lot). 

 

Who's buying Garnacho? Last I heard was Napoli but things seem to have gone quiet. I did think you'd have issues moving the others due to wages.

Chelsea seem to be making the most noise with Garnacho. He's turned down a move to Saudi as well as he wants to stay in England. We could have got a fortune there.

 

Top 5 is extremely ambitious after finished 15th last season. I think top 8 and decent cup runs would satisfy most fans.

Nothing wrong with making profit from academy players, but its just the sheer number that Man Utd let slip through their fingers, who is actually making these decisions and keeps the overpaid dross in the first team.

You think there's a lot of youth players that we let slip through our fingers who go on to play for top clubs? I don't think that's true at all. Given that we've had an academy graduate in every matchday squad for the last 86 years, I think we give youth a chance. In fact, given the amount of youth we produce, I think we have an extremely good record in regards to letting them go.

 

I'm hoping some of the overpaid dross will be in gone by August.  Woodward/Murtough really did a number on us with some of those decisions.

Why would you need a striker when you would Mbeumo / Cunha on the books? With Zirkzee / Mount / Diallo all 10s. Then with Garnacho who should be in your squad in that 10. Would be insane to load up on a striker (blocking pathway of Obi) with no Europe.

 

Unless you were able to move on Hojlund, but he’s not in the weird bomb squad yet so he’s not moving yet.

Amad won't be a #10. His best performances for us have come as a RWB and I'm 99% sure that's where Amorim wants him to play. Mbeumo and Cunha will be the #10's if Mbeumo eventually signs. Zirkzee is a really good backup in that position. Can you rely on Mount given his injury record at us? 

 

Garnacho's Man United career is over. He's not part of this team anymore.

 

I'm also very unconvinced with Obi and would think he's more likely to go out on loan as he looks extremely raw. I think we need a more experienced striker to provide something different to Hojlund, like scoring goals.

If you fill your squad with overly expensive players as Man Utd have done over the decade, with no thought of medium to long term plan.

One would assume most of the young players don't see a path to consistently play in the first team, and see their future elsewhere for regular first team football. 

 

Not sure that's accurate but you would think it's a possibility, with top clubs it's probably affected like Man Utd in that regard. 

If clubs have 25 players bought in, where on earth do youngsters go ?  Obviously there's exceptions to the rule, but it's not that high in bigger clubs in England.
