‘If it wasn’t for me coming in and saving them, the club would have went bust’.

Another absolute classic from the Ashley playbook.

What's not realistic? Is it the massive spires that don't make sense? The durex around the stadium? The fact one of the graphics had us winning 3-0?

The posts talking about it earnestly. Is it honestly real?

100k stadium, yet we all know the same old plastic "fans" still wont bother to attend, but will continue to brag online about who's the "biggest club in the world" etc etc etc

Hopefully if we ever get round to… doing whatever we want to do with our stadium, we ask the government to pay for development of nearby areas. They couldn’t really turn us down after this.

Mate that's what our Saudi owners are for. Spend as much as you like on rebuilding Britain, just don't spend it on your 'orrible northern football team.

That interview was wild. Got the same vibes as when Ashley did his attempt at damage control. His defence for stopping the legends/ambassador thing and lunch to save what...80k a year? Saying it was necessary in order to stop the club from losing 100m a year  Hypothetically if they had signed say Gordon instead of Sancho, they'd "save" that cost in player wages in one week and then some.

yes, remember his embarassing interviews - i preferred it when he was a recluse

We're going to put the cart on the horse or some nonsense

Does a struggling football club that was going bust by Xmas keep turning up at its current 70,000 stadium ? No, they turn up in a newer 100,000 seater megadome - perception, yeah? They got to trust me - I'm taking these guys into battle, yeah? And I'm doing my own stapling

This is nail on head

How can a club that's in so much debt, afford to pay for a £2 billion stadium? ???

By sacking most of their staff, stopping free lunches, refusing to pay a £10 bonus to stewards, making players look after their kit better and raising ticket prices whilst also removing any concessions

It's not rocket science

They will have to issue bonds most likely. A tax exile like Jim certainly won't be paying for it.

They could issue shares but I doubt they'd be able to issue enough.

They can't....they want the public to pay for it...."in the interest of the North"

Balls to them we're the real North....let's ask the govt to fund ournew stadium for some northern regeneration if they actually mean it ( which of course everyone knows they don't). Only way to get "the North" level with the South is to shove Parliament up here....bet we'd catch up pretty quick if that happened
