Any attack minded player under Pardew is impossible to analyse. Simple as.

Riviere must be f***ing class then

Man I wish he wasn't injured. He'd definitely look better than he showed last year.

Yes, when I think about Riviere it's just like that.

Was a joke how he was treated at the beginning like, didn't score a hatrick on his own the first 2 games so was sat on the bench for most of the next few months. Familiar.

 he was meant to be a creative player but was providing nothing.

He was therefore benched and the guy who came in set up a couple of goals and then Scored the goal that got us our first win

Aye joke to bench him though

Yeah because us going 7 games without a win was Cabella's fault.

I think Cabella has more than enough chance to prove his value, and I don't think he performed badly.  However, it is clear that he isn't Ben arfa who can change the game on his own.  He is not a miss or bust consider his price but what we need is a fucking bargain like Cabaye who cost pennies but perform like 20m superstars.  I understand why some ppl feel disappointed and I do think Thauvin is a better fit for that game changing role, the one previously played by Ben Arfa.

The point is he was managed terribly when trying to adjust to a better, more physical league.  It was MYM all over again but not quite as bad.

Another one off the 'failure to live up to potential' conveyor belt. Mixture of bad management and being nowhere near as good as expected. It's getting boring now.

You can't give a foreign player one season man. He didn't have the opportunity to live up to his potential. One example that always comes back to me is Robert Pires - he was dreadful in his first season in England. The difference is, Wenger could clearly see the potential for him to improve. Cabellas situation is 100% down to bad management - he can't shoulder any of the blame for me.

 There are plenty of players that that's applicable to as well. Bergkamp and Modric are the first that spring to mind. I don't remember Pires being bad.

Weren't both players mentioned putting in effective performance by the end of their first seasons? I can't remember like, just going off their Wikis.

As much as players need time to adapt, there was little in Cabella's game to suggest he was going to develop into an effective PL attacking player. We'll never know now like.

Some players take time to adapt and then become extremely effective, some never adapt, but are not necessarily bad players. You just have to go with which you think is most likely on a case by case basis.

I think we can all agree with that rather dull assessment.
