Maybe I'm a sap but a couple of more signings like this (forwards, mainly) and I'll be looking forward to our games next season. Yes, the manager is a turd and the owner isn't doing things the way we would like but I'm not capable of ignoring the club. Watching us, following us, match day - it's what Saturday's/weekends are all about, and it's all very well saying that you'll get involved again when the ownership changes but what if it never does? What if the next owner is like Cellino at Leeds or Tan at Cardiff? Obviously they are extreme examples and both complete lunatics but it could happen. I can understand not wanting to fuel Ashley's fortune and I don't support him in the slightest, but the prospect of not having that match day to look forward to is unfathomable to me. In many ways, the club have me by the balls and Ashley knows that.

The Pardew thing has been done to death but it has been shown that if the players are good enough they can override his shitness, so more players of this ilk the better. In 6 months I'll no doubt be moaning that he is being played too deep/on the bench but that's future me's problem.

Matchdays towards the end of last season were the pits. Days of dread then 90 minutes of wanting Newcastle to lose.

That's why I packed it in. Still feels shite but the thought of watching an Alan Pardew team feels worse. That hasn't changed. First day, I'll be hoping for a City win.

I want the best for NUFC and at present that is getting humiliated every game until he's gone.

I'm massively torn at the moment like.

I like that the players we're getting in might not be absolutely fucking loathsome and detestable to watch at the games I'll be dragging myself regrettably along too. But at the same time a lot of me hopes we lose due to the bellend in charge. I can almost tolerate Ashley as he doesn't inflict the 90 mins of pain just the background of loathing, Pardew though - no chance.

A lot of the time with Pardew I can tell at 2pm when the team is announced if I'm going to enjoy the game or not. Hopefully with a few more options that might not be so bad. I thought we played some ok stuff before Christmas, nout dazzling but like a team who were capable of finishing 7th or thereabouts. Some horror shows, as ever with Pardew, but some good away performances and the occasional home success had us well placed but then we all know what happened next. He's just a detestable cunt though who will have us seeing out games after 30 minutes with a 1 goal lead, but I love supporting this mess of a club more than I hate this arsehole.

I can see where you're coming from and I understand it as that has been me but now it's gone too much the other way. I enjoyed 2.5 home games (Chelsea & Stoke, atmosphere v Cardiff) of 19 last season, absolutely shite state of affairs and while that may increase if we sign a couple of strikers to add to the others you know if it comes down to it and we're doing well in Feb/March there'll be a dip to ensure we don't do to well.

From a personal POV I've disliked a lot of players and sung against a couple of managers but nothing compares to the lying, manipulative dickhead in the dugout now. From the way he got the job to the way he's conducted himself since he has not redeeming features aside from not interfering too much in one season.

How good the WC has been will only compound how much the new season doesn't spark what it used to. Particular with a lot of decent schadenfreude (a lot of football life revolves around this now) last season too.

Main issue is just that we're not building any type of play for players to join & build on. Its all individual ability, we're back at the start once they go which clearly they will. Even if its fun for a season, wheres it going? The manager cant even work out corners after 3-4 seasons. De Jong & Cabella could be absolutely superb, some of the best we've ever seen & we'd just know they'll soon be off.

No interest in winning a Cup

No interest in qualifying for Europe

No interest in developing a squad

No interest in developing young players

No interest in entertaining paying fans

No interest in moving the club forward a single inch.

It's a pointless exercise to actively follow this club. They're like a ropey film I've muted whilst I'm doing other things, it's still ticking over in the background but I'm barely noticing it.

Fair points, 2014 matches have been a struggle.

I struggle with wanting us to lose, just because I dread who the replacement would be. Ashley has dug up JFK twice and tried really hard to unleash O'Leary on us. I think we'd have to be relegated for him to be sacked - if there was a guarantee Ashley and Pardew would go then I'd take it, but sadly that is not a guarantee.

How are any of those choices worse than Pardew though?  I mean he's less obviously embarrassing but as a manager he's the fucking pitts, can't think of anyone worse.

So you would take JFK over Pardew?

I don't like Pardew, but that is absurd. O'Leary, well, after brummie's review of him I'm pleased we avoided him. The grass isn't always greener but when your grass is covered in shit anyway beggars can't be choosers I suppose.

I dont want Kinnear, I just don't understand being scared of any alternatives.  Even with Kinnear IMO the only way he's worse is that he's no good at convincing people he isn't shit, which apparently Pardew has a fucking PHD in.  Make no mistake 99% of the grass is greener.

The fact nee cunt knows where Cabella or de Jong are liable to play speaks volumes, especially when the "manager" changes his formation every time we get beat to try and avoid finger pointing and blame next time round.

Oh I mean he's absolutely sub human scum and the excuse that nobody better would come is not a reason any PL manager should be in a job. In an ideal world some up and coming manager with ambition will takeover, in many ways it is gutting that Ashley has given this fuckwit money to spend when it could have been somebody far more competent, but such is life.

In many ways that's better though, when Kinnear was boss/associated with the club we were an active joke. At least now we're only a joke to ourselves, everybody else has been blinded by Pardew's bullshit. As you say, seemingly Pardew can convince players he's not a total cunt, something Kinnear would probably struggle in.

 Jesus, this is grim no matter what way you look at it. Welcome Cabella

He hasn't given Pardew any money though, it would have been better if he had, it would have been somehow worse to watch but at least he would have dug his own grave by now.

At the moment, he's got Carr doing all the donkey work and Pardew coming along every season and whinging about it, stamping his feet until he gets a fresh crop of international players to ruin.

Well let's not split hairs. We have spent some money for the first time in 18 months was the main point.

You really know how next season will go, personally i can see us starting well (Man City aside), playing decent stuff but as soon as we get humped, as we will with a defence as bad as ours, and the lack of cover in front of them because of fucknuggets tactics. Fucknugget will panic and switch to what he thinks is a tighter formation. And then see that concede goal after goal. Switch again, decent stuff and results for a bit, heavy defeat....rinse and repeat.

I'm not really sure how some still haven't seen that for themselves, and not spotted the limitations of Pardew's management and lack of bravery and blatant cowardice in his tactics.

If Pardew is as bad as most seem to think, why is Cabella joining us? He'll have had the chance to speak at length to Remy, Debuchy, Sissoko and Cabaye. It doesn't sound like they've given him a bad reference.

As far as I'm concerned, Pardew still has something to prove, but this unrelenting negativity doesn't quite fit.

For the avoidance of Doubt, Pardew is Mullins over Mascherano, Gosling over Ben Arfa, Elliott over the emergency pilot in Airplane!, Archer over Orwell, Big Country over the Ramones, Brighton Belles over Golden Girls, Barney the Dinosaur over Godzilla, In the Night Garden over Jamie and His Magic Torch, Kula Shaker over Super Furry Animals, Chris Evans over Howard Stern, The Business over the Long Good Friday and Williamson over Baresi - negative cunty bollocks 0 lollipops, sunshine, romance and common sense 4.

Much better to have a manager who's unquestionably shit than this fraudster.  At least the obviously shit manager gets sacked because everyone sees he's shit.  We might look a joke for a bit until he's sacked but I'd take that over the horrendous limbo we're in now.  Terrible manager who's enough of a bullshiter to keep a lot of people thinking he isn't terrible, that's as bad as it gets IMO.

Exactly, i'm sure there's plenty who visit this place but aren't signed up who think Pards is hard done to, and it's all Ashley's fault.

Amazingly for me, i hope we have a cracker of a season and Ashley spends more money, i say that knowing it's absolutely not going to happen but i'd like to enjoy football for a while if possible.

Anyway any update on this after the initial reports?  Anyone actually seen the Montpellier president say the fee is definitely agreed?  Just expecting to wake up to contradictory reports.

That's what it boils down to for me, they could put a poo throwing chimp in charge it's the result that dictates my mood on a Saturday night, no point getting bothered about the other stuff unless there's enough of an uprising to put serious pressure on. Would that risk upsetting the new signings though?

I think most peoples attitudes are like they are because of what the board and Pardew himself have said. The obvious stuff about the cups and Pardew's lame excuse for the Europa league. It just leaves us with a weird situation of signing decent players like De Jong, Cabella, Janmaat, 2 strikers and hopefully Grenier if Ashley has gone mental. Then watching us bore our way to 9th, it's why there's a lack of excitement.

We seem to be signing players to have a decent go at things, but the club and manager then doing/saying the opposite, it's just weird and baffling.

Fuck off to the 'Pardew makes me cut myself' thread with the Pardew shite.

We've signed two players for actual money!  Good players!  And one of them's called Remy!  Hopefully we'll transition to a 4-3-3 with Cabella on the left of a front 3 with HBA on the right and a new striker up top.  SDJ sitting in behind them with Sissoko and Anita bossing the midfield.  Unstoppable :frantic:
