Village Idiot
Pongolle seemingly spent an age in La Liga iirc. He didn't have a bad run over here. Starred for Recreativo in their two seasons in the top flight, got himself signed by Atlético and was a regular off-the-bench for them. Quique Flores didn't seem to think much of him so he got sold, and it was downhill after that. His pace and power made him a reasonably effective player in this league, although he was a pretty limited player.
Village Idiot
Rumors going wild in the Madrid camp this week (it always happens when they implode) so take this with a huge grain of salt, but Marca running that Isco and James will be placed in the transfer list at the end of the season. Sneijder's brother also signed for Dundee United last summer and was released before the transfer window even closed.

Any chance they cash in on Ronny? Think it's clear they need a proper DM and Striker. Perhaps another CB. Ramos is injured a lot these days and Varane/Pepe don't look good together. Nacho has been okay but I thought he was 22 or something. He's 26!

Tooj
Manchester City close in on £23m Ilkay Gündogan after meeting with agent Manchester City have stepped up their bid to make Ilkay Gündogan one of Pep Guardiola’s first signings, with Txiki Begiristain meeting the Borussia Dortmund midfielder’s agent at Amsterdam’s Conservatorium Hotel. Guardiola will take over from Manuel Pellegrini at City on 1 July when he leaves his position at Bayern. Gündogan signed a fresh two-year deal last summer so at the close of the season will have only 12 months left of his contract. He has a buyout clause of €30m (£23m). Begiristain was photographed in conversation with Ilhan Gündogan, the 25-year-old’s representative and uncle, on the same day Guardiola met the City sporting director at the Conservatorium. Begiristain spoke to Gündogan’s agent for around 45 minutes, according to German newspaper, Bild. City’s move for a player who can operate in a number midfield roles puts Yaya Touré’s future at the club in doubt. Gündogan joined Dortmund from Nürnberg in 2011. Mole_Toonfan
Kidding, he is one talented mother f***er and has come back well since his very bad injury layoff. Yeah i was surprised that he did considering how long he was out for and that he looked like Ronaldo did at the end of his career during the layoff. Mole_Toonfan
Seems cheap If i recall correctly he wanted out but got injured when his contract was running out so they renewed him with a " cheap " clause to sort of cover themselves.
