Village Idiot
With Xavi leaving, we need a top-drawer CM. I see a lot of people claiming we already have it and it's Messi, but we still need one.
Village Idiot
"Sport" reporting that we have bought Aleix Vidal and we'll announce it next week. Apparently he'll agree to just train with us until our ban expires in January. He's had a tremendous season with Sevilla, so I hope it's true. There's talk we might loan Samper to them as part of the payment. Do you plan on actually keeping Samper when the loan ends? seems like most of these loans don't seem to end up with players coming back and breaking through. It's just a rumor, to be honest, might turn out to be bull. Rafinha just returned from a successful loan at Celta, anyway. There was a time that being loaned out meant we had given up on the player, but we seem to be changing our policy. Samper won't be at Barça B next season, that's for sure. If one comes in then who drops to the bench? Rakitic? Has he not quite lived up to expectations?

As in he'll move back to CM as his legs start to go? He's more and more becoming our main playmaker nowadays, even when playing on the right. The last six months he's had have been ridiculous in that regard. There's been plenty of games where he's finished with the most touches in the team (a privilege apportioned to Xavi before that). Ameritoon
Definitely still need someone to plug that Iniesta hole, even if Messi is doing most of the creating.

Village Idiot
Rakitic has been pretty good. Our midfield has been weird though, lots of running and not that much passing. But that's part of Lucho's tactics.

Iniesta has had a pretty torrid season until the last 2-3 months, for example, and Rafinha hasn't been up to much. Plus we have struggled to take the sting out of games without Xavi on the pitch. Mole_Toonfan
They need to replace Xavi and Iniesta long term, Rakitic has been great but tbh he's never going to be a long term answer for a club like that.
Village Idiot
Our long term replacements are now playing for Chelsea and Bayern, sigh.

Village Idiot
We can buy players; what we can't do is register them for any competition until January. FIFA can't directly ban us from giving employment contracts to whoever we want...

Wisdom Body
Odd signing that. Aleix Vidal's natural position is as a winger. While he's a good player in that position (very pacy and very direct) he's not a Barça-level player there. He wasn't even a certain starter at Sevilla there, which is probably why Emery adapted him as right back. If they're signing him as a defender they're gambling on him actually being able to consistently defend.

Mole_Toonfan
He'll have to improve his defending, but it's not outside of the realms of possibility seeing as Alves did.
