Is it deadline day the final squad gets announced?

Usually a couple day after is the end of the registration window. You have to submit a list tommorow though. Friday 12:30 before a weekend game is the latest a player can be registered for that fixture, I believe.

Colback to fight for his future

Jack Colback is ready to stay and fight for his future, according to Football Insider.

There were claims on Wednesday that Colback will be left out of the Newcastle 25-man squad - but sources close to the player argue that’s not the case.

Jack Colback is ready to fight for his place at Newcastle, amid talk he will not feature in Rafa Benitez’s Premier League 25-man squad, Football Insider sources understand.

Colback was left out of Newcastle’s squad for their recent friendly win over Verona fuelling speculation over the midfielder’s future.

The 25-man squad won’t be named for another three weeks, so while Colback is fighting for his future it does seem a bit premature. Plenty can happen in three weeks..

Football Insider sources understand 27-year-old Colback has no plans to leave his boyhood club and is confident of winning his place back in the side.

He doesn't even have that. The article is wrong. You have to register players tommorow. If he's left out its over. Will probably get in on his "pashun*" though

*for his wages

how does it work for players signed after tmrw ?

You can still change it until the first few days of september.

Not if he's not in it tommorow. I doubt Rafa's mind is suddenly going to change and he's going to want him back from his form in training.

Reading those responses, clearly there is some truth to the original story, his absence in the final pre-season games was telling. I think Rafa took note of how poor we looked against Mainz, which was largely down to a central midfield of him and Diane. He said he was part of the squad not part of the 25.
