Looked poor today. Some people have built him up to be something better than he is. Will improve though. Needs to be eased in rather than chucked in at left wing back in an important game. Wierd move from mcloon

So whose fault was it that he kept on losing the ball by trying to take on all of the Watford team in his own half?

That will likely occur when a manager employs a defense 3-5-2 system - utilizing an 'instinctive' ball carrying winger (a gambler) unfamiliar with the position demands in attack & defense - which doesn't allow for an immediate wide outlet pass because the midfield is narrow ie he didn't really have a wide running mate/or link-up man. That system would have exposed a fit Ben Arfa, to a lesser degree if he was experimented woth in a similar fashion (on the right, if he was still here). A ring rusty, less experienced youngster, coming off lengthy a lay off - lol, keep it up. That was demonstration of hanging a youngster out to dry, for the reasons given, which Pardew would have been proud of.

Face it. Stevie's so-called clever tactical switch-up - all about containing bloody Watford - blew up in his face, badly. And it was most evident at this position.

More conflicting reports of when his contract is up!

From today's Ronniegill;

Rolando Aarons

Age: 20

Premier League Appearances 2015-16: 1 (3)

Premier League Goals 2015-16: 0

The winger is entering the final few months of his current contract and, though he started the defeat at Watford, he will be pushed further down the pecking order following Townsend’s arrival.

McClaren was keen for Aarons to gain experience out on loan earlier in the season but recurring injury problems put an end to that - and it is understood the Magpies want to extend Aarons’ deal.

It remains to be seen whether he goes out on loan either before or after the deadline, but there remains a decent possibility that he will.

He's done nothing to warrant a new contract.

Neither had Collo over the last 18month but he still got one.

Aarons has looked promising and talented in most of the appearances he has made for us. Im not saying we should hoy big money at him as he's done nothing to earn it but I definitely feel we would live to regret letting him go if we do.

If you were him would you sign an extension?

I know I wouldn't.  Not only would he get more money as a free agent he'll likely end up somewhere where he'll get game time.

He's not getting game time because he's injured all the fucking time. It's not like he's been readily available all season and McClaren's frozen him out (ie Thauvin). If anything, the fact that McClaren picked Aarons over Perez for the Watford game shows that he's still held in high regard despite his awful injury record.

Aarons is obviously talented though and I'd be keen to keep him on the books under the right conditions. His injury record is a massive concern given his age though - if it persists, I'd be thinking about cutting him loose.
