I've made this point before a couple of times, but it needs driven home. The last time we went down it looked likely that we'd be in and around there but he stuck with Kinnear regardless. Kinnear only went because of his health. With 8 games to go Ashley appointed a man who had never managed or coached a football club before, never mind at the top level. Shearer's a hero to me but he was out of his depth there and it was a stupid appointment that cost the club it's Premier League status*. Ashley has proven time and time again he is clueless with this s*** so why would it change now? Even when we were down he went for the cheap option in Hughton, who luckily for us worked out, but it was a desperate appointment at the time. Pardew is the safe option for Ashley, he's the yes man and because of the 5th season he's probably seen as a good manager who is capable of having a great season here and there. Pardew will get until the absolute end to try and keep us in this division, and even if we do go down I've no doubt in my mind that Ashley will see him as the man to take us back up. Ashley probably thinks Pardew is too good for the Championship and would p*ss it. Long story short, Pardew is going f***ing nowhere. The man headbutted someone and survived, he's won how many games this year? He's still here. At this point he can't do anything to be sacked other than headbutt Ashley himself. *I know a lot of the damage had been done. There's only one side that could win the CL imo. All the rest would do well to make it to QF's. 1 great side. Another few good sides with some great players. A lot of average teams and plenty of poor ones. Apart from Everton - every side below Stoke are piss poor. Maybe that's unfair on Hull & Villa this season. I don't think we are any better than the bottom 10 or so in the league but we'll not be cut adrift - there's enough crap teams for Pardew to be "in touch" with safety until it's to late. Bang on and this is one of the major reasons why the club has underachieved for so many years, because fans accept any old shit. At any other big club and Ashley would have been hounded out years ago and Pardew too. We have the biggest bunch of losers in the UK when it comes to match day fans. I've never been more embarrassed sat inside SJP than against Hull. Wild celebrations for earning a point. Morons! Almost every other set of PL fans have to go off the beaten track to get to the match. Loads of our fans aren't overly bothered about the result or performance as long as they can have a drink. Almost every other set of PL fans have to go off the beaten track to get to the match. Loads of our fans aren't overly bothered about the result or performance as long as they can have a drink. I've lived down south for 14 years, at distances ranging 90 to 40 miles away from North London. In all of the places we've lived there's been Spurs fans who regularly go to games. Most of those guys jump on the train and have beers there in my experience. It's a totally different vibe to NUFC. One city, one club and a fervent support. There's plenty of Salford lads support Man United but that is dwarfed by the others they attract from all over the place with very high expectations. I really do think if you're having to trek to a retail park and back, or commute into London, to watch something atrocious, that's likely to annoy you a lot more in the long term and so you'll ultimately have less tolerance for it. Unfortunately I know and am friends with plenty of 'Yiddos' and have even done the matchday walk from Wood Green on many occasions. Yes there are plenty of fans that live miles away (like all clubs), especially those from the 'white flight' phenomenon that live in Essex, M Keynes, East Anglia, Sussex, Surrey etc but they don't make up the majority of home fans whatsoever. And I also have to say it's far easier for people on here who don't attend to call for mass vocal protests than it is for fans at the game itself to grasp the nettle. Do people honestly expect all fans at the match - season ticket money spent, many of them accompanied by kid(s), others just glad to be out of the house and on the lash, many not naturally inclined to take an individual stand and draw attention to themselves - to actively celebrate opposition goals? Depressing it may be that the ferocity of the anti-AP feeling on here - totally justified as it is - is not reflected in the matchday atmosphere.
