Guest firetotheworks
The bit about him being down to earth and one of the lads is perturbing me. If this is PR bullshit, of what use is it?
Dave
Why say he's had enough, less a week after saying he's fully behind Pardew? He hates journalists, we know this. It's all fucking bollocks man, saddens me to see so many people reeled in by these compulsive liars once again.
Robbo
http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/alan-pardew-is-gone-if-we-lose-to-stoke-says-newcastle-united-owner-mike-ashley-but-then-claims-its-a-joke-9759060.html Mike Ashley has broken his silence on Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew’s future and told The Independent that if he loses the Premier League game at Stoke City on Monday night he is “finished”. On Friday night, the billionaire club owner’s lawyers, insisted those comments, which were made late on Thursday night in a London bar, were a joke and intended to be tongue in cheek. But the strength of the remarks will still shock Newcastle fans, whose team are bottom of the Premier League. “He’s got one more game,” Ashley said. “If we lose against Stoke on Monday night then he’s gone. I have had enough.” Making a throat-cutting gesture, Ashley added: “Dead. Finished. Over. One more game then that’s it. What would you do? I have spent a lot of money on that club, it’s cost me a lot. I won’t put up with it any more. Honestly, answer me, what would you do? One more loss and he’s gone, he’s over, finished.” Ashley was speaking outside The Golden Lion pub in London’s Soho district on Thursday night where he was having a drink with a friend. When asked if he had informed Pardew about his decision or lined up any replacements, the billionaire said: “That’s all I’m prepared to say about it and now that I’ve said it, it’s out there. You can do what you want with it. There’s only so much I can take.” Newcastle have secured only three points all season and have won only five matches in the whole of 2014. Until now, Ashley has backed Pardew, who was appointed in 2010. The two held “clear the air” talks only two weeks ago but Ashley’s comments will add further pressure on the beleaguered manager. Alan Pardew Pardew has faced increasing pressure from supporters Pardew signed an eight-year contract with the club in September 2012 but there is a break clause in the deal if Ashley decides to sack him. Last week Newcastle fans launched a protest campaign against Pardew with more than 30,000 leaflets demanding his sacking before the 2-2 home draw against Hull City. Ashley’s lawyer on Friday night added: “Mr Ashley responded, tongue in cheek, that Mr Pardew had two more games before being sacked. To put this into perspective, over the past few weeks certain reporters have stated that they believe that Mr Pardew has two more games before being sacked. Mr Ashley was therefore ‘humouring’ your reporter.” Full quotes. Strange way of making a joke, like. please
Troll
I have a feeling it's been on the cards for a while and we're just lining up a replacement first (we have precedent for that) rather than letting Carver take over.

LV
If he does stay on despite losing the next match then this will be total confirmation that Ashley is trolling us.
Mick
I guess sackpardew.com leaflets will be welcome at Stoke, the owner agrees he should be sacked if we lose.

midds
Never met the bloke, don't particularly want to, but I get the impression Ashley doesn't like being shown up and/or embarrassed. He's stuck by the useless cunt for ages but it's now getting to the stage where his own sanity and judgement are now being called into question. Pardew's embarrassing Ashley with his sheer incompetence and, whilst I'm really wary of believing stuff like this, I think it's coming to a head. Not sacking him is starting on reflect badly on Ashley. I'm cautious but I think those apparently throwaway comments could have a thread of truth running through them. Pilko
I believe that he said it but I totally don't believe it's genuine. No way someone as clever as Ashley would spout off to someone who just introduced himself as a journalist. Pardew is probably in on it and when we get beaten at Stoke there'll be an awful realisation that he's here until we're too far down the table to recover. Big Geordie
It's hard to know what to believe. What I do know as others do, is that this man revels in winding up us supporters as it gives him a rise. That said, he will pull the plug on Pardew sooner rather than later if our poor form remains
Mole_Toonfan
Whether it's genuine or not the fact he said it means he's at least thought about it in his mind. You don't say things like this otherwise, the mere fact he's said something like this in public is positive no matter if it's genuine or not.
lovejoy
Will be interesting to see pardew reaction tomorrow. He'll show himself to be a bugger coward than ever by laughing at 'Mikes' 'joke'. I'm going to Stoke, I hope we get fucking hammered.
Mr Logic
Looks legit, just have to lose at Stoke to see if it is. It's a straw and I'm clutching it. You've go to keep clutching at straws. Ashley has form for opening his gob after a couple of drinks but I wish he hadn't said this. Now Pardew and the team will all know what's riding on the game too. BrettNUFC
At least this gives fans a genuine reason to actually want their side to lose this time around. I don't believe for one second he was serious but if we do lose, it certainly makes it very interesting. After all the silence suddenly for Ashley to get pissed and blurt out this, just doesn't add up. Seems far too clever for a PR disaster like that. Just more trolling im thinking, bunch of cunts, laughing at us
