Disco
Almost like they've ran a nothing story based on him being back in the mindset because of his job.
Guest Roger Kint
Very convenient timing given the backlash to JC PR, the woeful performance Saturday and the raft of new ST cancellations. Sure none of those things are related at all mind.....
Collage
I'm clinging to this: "Garde has told friends that the major hurdle to overcome in January talks with Newcastle was the fate of long-serving assistant Gerald Baticle, who remains at Lyon and would not be able to leave until the summer"

Maybe the journal have stumbled across an article to sell some papers..... Well if you read Ryders tweets he was accusing people of thinking that Almost as though Bishop wasnt here at all. Magpie
**Massively positive post alert** I'm adamant he's coming. He insisted on continuing to have his year off and has agreed to take over the summer. Job done. Bosh. Plus it would also explain why all of a sudden it was Carver in the short term. We were seemingly on the verge of appointing someone and then whack, it's Carver. Has to be.

But why haven't we said Garde is coming already, and why are the club feeding the media loads of positive Carver stories? Everything feels like it's being set up for Carver to get it. Belfast Boy
For garde to be in some sort of confidentiality agreement has to be a positive sign. If he knows he's definitely not getting / wanting the job then he has nothing to gain by keeping quiet. There is no way Ashley would pay him anything to keep quiet if he's not offering him a job. Let's see if Carver can pick up a decent result (lol) and the press is again pushing for him to get the job.

Hopefully not the case as he wouldn't last long here.
Ste
Can't see Carver getting the job permanently at all. Any talk going against this has merely been to try and keep the players interested IMO, instead of going on the early holiday they have.

Asbolutely nobody from top to bottom at our club (except fans of course) care about the rest of the season short of getting another 10 points. Troll
Since Keegan our last few managers have been: out of the game for years, promoted assistants, had absolutely no experience whatsoever, dredged up from League One. What makes people thing Carver won't get the job with our track record?

Wallace
I just think that if the plan is to give Garde the job then why not get it all agreed and made public. It would keep the fans onside for the rest of the season instead of allowing the discontent to fester and Carver would get an easier ride because everyone would know that he was only in place until the end of the season. Maybe they think the team might drift but they are doing that anyway and perhaps knowing who the manager was going to be next season might make them focus more as they would know there is a plan in place and who they needed to impress. It's more likely they did a Shearer with him, where they shook hands and left him thinking he had the job only to never to get in touch with him again. The job is his if he doesn't f*** it all up completely. Which he may well do.
Minhosa
I'm guessing part of the interview process involved agreeing to be bound by confidentiality agreements etc. Can't let myself believe it's anything more than that.

Quick reminder that this is the same Mike Ashley who less than 2 years ago, without consulting Carr or the manager, appointed Joe Kinnear as Director of Football to steady the ship after we finished 16th with our second lowest PL points total ever. STM
I don't see Carr as the messiah, some would say he is as complicit as Pardew and Carver. He is however, our only real hope of positive change. As he seems to actually watch football.

He is however, our only real hope of positive change. As he seems to actually watch football. If Pardew deserves stick for working for Ashley then so does Carr, he obviously wants a good job as much as anyone else. The difference is he seems to know what he's doing. Problem is, he can suggest as many managers as he wants. Then the club meets them, they're too expensive, they won't be complete patsies, and they fail to do a deal. Would Carr resign over that? I doubt it.
