I know the price is insane even for a regular shirt these days but just wondering if there’s any significant difference - bar the stick on crest. It's made from a different, far more lightweight material. Way more breathable as well. If you've ever bought a dedicated top for exercise they're similar to that. Tiburon
I saw quite a number of people wearing the new kit over the weekend from kids to older aged adults and I have to say worn, it looks a bit cheap and nasty and not as nice in the flesh as it appears on the promos. Not that I’ll be buying any mind, but if there are quality issues over stitching etc. the club really needs to take Castore to task over this because fans are paying extremely good money for these kits which are already massively overpriced to start with. That said, I do find it hard to sympathise with anyone kicking off over this when they are happy to queue for ages and spend so much money to buy what is essentially overpriced tat. Surely when you buy a top you’d try it on and check the overall quality etc? Maybe stitched badges need to be a thing of the past full-stop going forward…

AyeDubbleYoo
It was really difficult to take time to consider the shirt carefully and even try it on at the weekend like, it was more like 'run in, grab what you can and get to the checkout'. That's part of the reason I didn't buy one. It was a bit of a reality check when I actually got to the shop, because the images looked so class but the actual shirt just looked like a normal top with quality that really should cost a lot less. Tell me you're a tory without telling me you're a tory. I’m being harsh I know, but yeah. Fans in general will buy any old tat and especially NUFC fans as evidenced by full houses week in week out under Ashley. There should be a level of expectation of decent quality, however, which is on Castore and the club and it looks bad for both. But those same people complaining will be there to buy a kit after next season. I mean one guy queuing to buy this season’s new Castore top while wearing last season’s Castore top basically said their designs were crap, but he was first in line… And no I’m not a Tory, not that being one makes one a bad person or uncaring and especially one for not feeling any real sympathy for people who line up to pay top money for tat. Overall though, my lack of sympathy aside, fans and indeed customers do deserve better and in the commercial world no-one gets the short end of the stick more than your average football fan who get ripped off due to their loyalty and basically treat like crap by all and sundry. Hopefully our own club will be treating fans with much more respect going forward, which they look like they have been doing since the takeover. If you don’t want to eat into your bespoke fedora budget then that’s on you. No need to scoff at fans wanting to don the colours; some of them were queuing up for their kids too. HaydnNUFC
Has Whitley mag vanished now after he hilariously outed himself as a huge Tory? Probably doesn't want to mix with us looney lefties anymore.

Stifler
Fuck me man, supporter police out of force again. This shirt is the 1st shirt under our new ambitious owners that doesn’t have a dodgy payday loan company or parasitic betting company stuck all over. It’s also the 1st shirt in over 20 years that can have the Champions League badge stuck on its sleeve with legitimacy. Let people get excited. Some people buying that shirt can’t afford to go to every game, for some it might even be the only thing they treat themselves too at all. If £70 is too much to spend for some people’s liking then fair enough, they aren’t asking for it to come out of your wallet.

Theregulars
It's nice and I'll inevitably buy it because I've the self control of Lindsey Lohan astride coke mountain, but it's so tiresome how they can't even at least put the effort required to make sure the black and white on the sponsor matches the shades of black and white used on the strip. Likelylad
I mean shirts have never been cheap in my lifetime and I’m in my mid 30s. I’ve not bought a modern shirt since 2004. I thought 70 quid was pretty decent in this day and age.

I was trying to remember how much shirts cost when I was a kid. I vaguely remember £45 in the mid 90s. according to the BoE inflation calculator that means they are actually cheaper in real terms at £70 than they were at £45 in the mid 90s. I couldn't find anything confirming previous prices though so maybe my memory is off. What I did find was an article that had researched shirt prices in the 80s expecting to show how expensive they are now. Well before my time I’m afraid, but the article said they had been surprised that actually shirts were comparably more expensive in the 80s compared to current prices by a significant margin. £70 still seems a lot to me, but they were always expensive, never a bargain. I could be wrong, but I'm 90% sure in 2017 when we released the 125th anniversary kit they done a deal on the website were it was 45 quid for the jersey, prem badges and name and number, because I remember getting mine with rafa 1 on the back lol... If that's the case the jersey has gone up 25 quid in 6 years....
Pancrate1892
I'm sure in 1994 the shirt was 25, the shorts were 10 and the socks 5. Full kit wanker for 40 quid.
