John Anderson saying on Total sport - wait and see what happens in summer.

Even if they spend £100m- what do they think will happen when we reach 40 points?

More waiting?

#wait

aye, but come september it will be best to wait till the Jan window etc.

Of course man, that's just the advice us unknowledgeable fans have been given by those in the know. Forever waiting.

The worst is when members of our support seemingly back this mentality of perennial waiting as if some magic compelling event is going to occur. It's sickening and hilarious in equal measure

I just find it astonishing that people will ignore all  this and discuss the finer points of the team-like they matter any- as if the whole fucking club isnt broken to bits

:anguish: Freddy Shepherd on SSN saying boycotting doesn't help and that he's confident Ashley will spend.

:anguish: :anguish: :anguish: :anguish: :anguish: :anguish:

Im confident we will spend

Im confident we will sell

Im confident we will win nothing

Im confident we will give up  near 40 points.

At these times I wish we had some Ultras  that would have some connections with the police service They could barricade the stadium from fans trying to enter.

I love how under-achieving owners in Italy often have to answer to these Ultras. The negative aspects - obviously - not so much.

Just pictured Ashley owning a Turkish or Serbian club.

If they were in any way serious about spending a bit of money on the club they'd have gone out and paid for a proper manager in January - they didn't, they went for the cheapest option possible, crossed their fingers and hoped it would be enough. That's the crux of the matter and it's not going to change now, this is the policy - spend as little as possible and hope it's enough.

The cunts running the gaff have 7 seasons worth of past form to go on and all of these bullshit leaks about investment in the summer are a smokescreen to fool fucking retards into thinking they're serious. Unfortunately it's worked with quite a few of our thicker fans who've swallowed it down whole. They're a pack of fucking arseholes and they've managed to hoodwink cunts like Anderson who are only to willing to push their agenda.

There will be significant investment in summer because the squad isn't fit for purpose - not even close.

Sadly this will fool a significant proportion of the support into buying tickets and shirts, which is why it seems to be club policy now.

It was the same last summer and this is how they cottoned on, hence so many contracts running down. There's far more positive PR to be sucked from the gullible by buying a French Sammy Ameobi for £3m than renewing the contract of the one we've got. Do that for half a dozen fringe players and "Wow! Look at the ambition!"

Far too many who want to believe in Ashleasy and the club as it means they continue doing what they've always done. As Wullie says with signings, I reckon a hefty chunk who boycotted wouldn't if we hadn't lost six on the bounce. A win, or a point against Hull would see droves returning.

It's difficult, as the game becomes more bloated and grotesquely rich more and more people are going to greater lengths to find something they like about the sport. A lot of fans just want to be left alone.

Think there's a lot of truth in this. As the structure of football has become recognisable and the sporting competition is more and more false or even obsolete, we're even more desperate not to think about the bigger picture.

I'd like to see money raised to pay for billboards around prominent places around town for our message on. The logo with a simple quote below it would do. Not sure how much these things cost and how long they last for though.

What are the odds of the Chronic getting banned for their coverage of this? I've read 2 or 3 articles about this now. An Ashley favourite, gag the media, batten down the hatches, remain silent. I can almost see him sat with his fingers in his ears, eyes tightly shut,  repeating over and over "can't hear you, can't hear you" while penfold strokes his head.

Re: "Summer Spending"

There's a very basic perception that spending money equates to ambition, and it makes everything okay. Yeah, money spent on players bought at the chief scout's whims (and I have enough goodwill towards Carr), with little input from the manager, with no formation or style of play in mind for them to fit into and with no regard to the acquisitions' relation to the attributes of their new teammates.

It's not the money, it's the improvisation, expediency, make-it-up-as-you-go mentality and incompetence of the administration. Nobody with any professional dignity would appoint Carver, effectively rendering the club managerless for the final 4 months of the season. Really, his predecessor, chancer-in-chief Alan Pardew, was the perfect face for this club in this state.

One of the few hints of a bright idea to emanate from the club recently was the intimation that we might need a Director of Football; somebody to give even a pretence of planning, seriousness and professionalism to the outfit. Naturally faced with the prospect of consistent sporting demands even vaguely threatening to detract from the institution's purpose - Ashley's personal gain - this deteriorated into the farce of the job being given to one of the (decrepit, quasi-senile and barely literate) boys.

I'd accept us spending less money than we already do, provided we made sure we knew what we were doing beforehand.

Worth a try, and a full page ad in The Chronicle etc. I guess they're already making these kinds of plans.

The ones opposite the gallowgate would be ideal

They are booked out months and months in advance.

The difficulty with this campaign anyway will be sustaining it over the summer. The organisers are going to have to be clever about what they target and how to keep a bit of momentum.
