Especially considering White has been at right back most of the season. We're stuck in a catch 22. Play with a back 5 because none of our centre halves are good enough in a four, but then we play 3 poor centre halves. I think we're in trouble either way. We're at the end of Southgates cycle, he has ran out of ideas and we've looked really poor recently. We've been fucked by injuries and our defence is rotten. Even our front 3, which is nailed on to be Sterling, Kane and Foden isnt great. I'm not convinced Kane is at the level he was a few years ago. Sterling is woefully out of form and very clearly on a downward trajectory and even Foden has been on the bench at City for their last 3 league games. Bellingham and Rice are both quality but even then, one is playing in the Bundesliga and the other at a struggling West Ham side. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

I'm assuming that Phillips is okay fitness-wise. I don't have much faith in Rice. Odds are that Maddison won't be going, otherwise I'd put him in Mount's place. Kane is our main striker and he drops deep to create space so the wide players need to run in behind. Just seems like a pace merchant who hits the ball really well. Admittedly, that’s good enough against a lot of teams but he just seemed to lack the bite and footballing iq to push on and become the world-class player everyone thought he’d be.
