Ben
With Bellingham and Rice there is no need at all for Phillips, but I bet he plays all three

TheBrownBottle
Southgate’s selections are those of a manager who has been in the job far too long - he’s got favourites at this point

St. Maximin
He persists with his favourites and that stops us from being as good as we should be come the start of a tournament, while he seems very inconsistent with his decisions. His reluctance to play Foden intitially in Qatar was disappointing and I understand it’s due to him not playing centrally for club, but he’s picking players who never play anywhere for club. He seems to like players he can ‘rely’ on too, but sometimes being reliable isn’t really enough.
alexf
Utterly predictable selections. They have kept him on too long (felt he should have walked away before Qatar personally) now it's just going to be a fairly negative end to his reign and a waste of everyone's time. The FA won't have a clue who they want to replace him either.
Mazzy
12 hours ago, Kanji said: The Johnstone, Maguire, Henderson and Phillips picks are absolutely absurd. Maguire and Henderson is ridiculous, Southgate needs to cut ties with both of them ASAP. Johnstone means nothing, he is 3rd choice, he won't play. Philips obviously doesn't ever play for City but atleast he's young enough to still be around for the next couple of tournaments unlike Maguire and Henderson. It's a real shame we couldnt have had a fresh manager in for this upcoming Euros, could've done us the world of good.

Lish007
For all his faults, Southgate is a very measured man. I like his comments re Saudi Arabia, Newcastle United and Saudi investment in his last presser. It's about time a manager came out and said it like it is; that Saudi investment is intertwined in British infrastructure and the scrutiny on football is basically obsessive to the point it doesn't make sense. But when does a hypocrite know they're a hypocrite? People are just thick.
TeddySAFC
10 hours ago, Cheshire Mag said: Southgate to leave after the euros according to The Mail Weird one his tenure as a whole, Done really well when you consider a European Final and a WC Semi, but then at the same time feel like he's underachieved as we should have won something with the players we have. He always seems to include 3 or 4 shocking selections in his squads, The inclusion of Phillips is a joke.

Choppy Chop Chop
My attitude to England has deteriorated as I've gotten older, I don't even know who we are playing this international break.
