This c*** not gone yet!? Just get 18m and get him out the door and get a CB and goal scoring midfielder or striker in and we are sorted. Easy. Messing about with ridiculous asking prices for player who Dosent want to be here

Why are you in such a rush

The season doesn't start for another month or so, we have plenty of time to bleed them dry and focus on other stuff in the mean time.

Liverpool linked with £27m bid. "f*** that, just take £18m!11!!1!"

Be interesting to see where Liverpool play him, you'd think Klopp sees a role for him rather than just being versatile across the Midfield.

£25m plus and I'd be laughing.

from press association

Newcastle are yet to receive an acceptable bid for midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum despite speculation he is close to joining Liverpool.

Press Association Sport understands that there has been contact between the two clubs and that a fee for the £25million-rated Dutchman has been discussed.

However, sources on Tyneside have indicated that the terms proposed to date do not meet the club’s requirements and as such, no deal is in place.

The Magpies do not want to sell Wijnaldum, who joined them in a £14.5million switch from PSV Eindhoven last summer, and have no need to do so despite suffering relegation from the Premier League. But there is also an acceptance that every player has his price, and that a disgruntled player could be more trouble than he is worth and should Liverpool come up with the right money on the right terms, they may well do business.

Wijnaldum, whose situation is also being monitored by Tottenham, was Newcastle’s leading scorer last season with 11 goals, four of them in a 6-2 league demolition of Norwich, although his form was patchy and he was unable to help the club retain its top-flight status following the appointment of Rafael Benitez as manager.

The Spaniard is hopeful of keeping many of his big names to lead the fight for a swift return, but is also aware that sacrifices may have to be made to fund his rebuilding work.

Andros Townsend, who had a £13million release clause in his contract, has already left for Crystal Palace, while Wijnaldum and France international Moussa Sissoko, who could cost up to £35million, have been linked with a series of potential buyers in recent weeks.

However, neither has yet attracted an offer which matches the Magpies’ criteria and will not be allowed to leave unless that changes.

Ryder loves to dismiss a story. And he's always right.

It's a pretty sound strategy tbh. Just deny everything "at this time", and then if something actually does happen, just say that it happened after your original comment. Much safer than saying something is actually going to happen.

Newcastle want Lucas Leiva included in deal to take Georginio Wijnaldum to Liverpool

Newcastle United are interested in signing midfielder Lucas Leiva as part of the deal that takes Holland international Georginio Wijnaldum to Liverpool.

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez worked with Lucas during his time at Anfield and is a huge admirer of the Brazilian. It is even thought the 29-year-old could be offered the captaincy at St James’ Park to try and help persuade him to drop down to the Championship.

Would be good, but seems unlikely.

I agree to an extent (give Lascelles the armband), but Lucas is class and would be a starter for loads of Prem clubs. If it meant delaying Lascelles getting the armband for a few years, I don't think it'd matter that much

I've never understood the fascination with Lucas. I've seen him have some good games, fine. But some people rate him way too highly. He's the definition of average midfielder. Better than what we have, and I'd probably get a shirt with his name on the back for the sake of it, but he's not class by any means. IMO

He's a good DM who has above average passing for his position, only natural people would rate him imo.
