So pleased to see most agreeing on here that it was a ridiculous, weak decision.

Does Theo Walcott get sent off for that challenge? Not in a million years.

Partly because 'he's not that type of player'. Unfortunately Mitrovic hasn't helped himself from that perspective.

Ha!

Gareth Barry got booked for Everton earlier on and Niall Quinn said "he's not that type of player" and the commentator pointed out that Barry is in fact the most booked player in premier league history so IS that type of player!

'Not that type of player' just means British/plays for a Sky 4 team.

'Possibly a yellow...'

Newcastle 0-0 Arsenal

Danny Mills

BBC Radio 5 live at St James's Park

"That is not a red card offence. He mistimes it, it's possibly a yellow card, but it's not particularly violent. Andre Marriner has had three big decisions to make so far and he's got all of them wrong."

"People are saying on social media that the red card was a leg-breaking tackle. Never in a million years! Broken toenail maybe."

---------------

Don't usually agree with Danny Mills and think he talks a lot of shit - but I think he's got that spot on.

Aye was listening whilst in the garden with the kids. He was disgusted by Marriner, and commented on how Arsenal players were doing the exact same things and not getting booked.

It was a bad decision, but it was a judgement call. No chance of having it overturned.

Agree - they would be wasting their time.

It'll be more to show Mitrovic that he has the club's support; all good IMO.

He's talking shit there,a boot full of studs planted on the shin is more likely to break a leg than it is a toenail.

He barely made contact with his shin, come away man.

If Coquelin had stood up and walked off (which he easily could have, as evidenced when he ran back on the pitch seconds later) - it would have been a yellow, at most.

The reaction bought the red card without a shadow of a doubt.

Barely made contact, you need your eyes checking.

He made contact but it had very little weight behind it. People saying it was a potential leg breaker are off their tits.

Potential leg breaker = Bardsley bending Colo's leg with a stud up tackle and gone unpunished.

Mitrovic supposed leg breaker = stepped on dudes foot.

Love me some holier than others brigade man. Letter of the law can lick Pardew's ass crack.

Would like to see that challenge done on yourself, you'd be changing your mind instantly.

Not a chance, the shinpad is there for a reason - for accidental collisions like this.

The force was felt on his foot, if anywhere - and even still, the foot wasn't left in and was more like a lass standing on your foot on a night out in heels.

Coquelin went down like an embarrassing sack of shit, like he did all game.
