Guest
He signed a 5-year contract 3 months before he left, he didn't have to go. It's not rocket science that a club who'd just received £50m for Torres could offer a bigger package to what a newly promoted club could.
Sean
If you get told by your bosses you're not wanted it kinda forces you out like. Of course Pardew would have done all he could to help Ashley out too.
Guest
£35m was huge. Naturally the club would want that. I doubt anyone outside the top 4-5 would have been able to say no but Carroll would have still been the main man had he stayed.

Dave
Not sure what he was thinking tbh, we got very lucky there. A rare gift from a referee.
Guest Howaythetoon
Not sure what he was thinking tbh, we got very lucky there. A rare gift from a referee. Again I think it was an instinctive reaction that most defenders would have attempted to do, it was a slight nudge. He was very lucky though. It’s about time we had such luck mind! Stifler
After doing pretty much a lap around the pitch after the final whistle to clap the supporters he then called a little girl over, took his top off, gave it to her, then shook hands with her dad. thenige
Whisper it, but not a million miles away from going to the World Cup this summer with England. Where every tackle he makes probably gets penalised by non-Premier League referees. Like Shola when he played in Europe. Every time he jumped it seemed to be a foul. Interpolic
England would be idiots not to take him tbh. He's a born leader, increasingly rare of English players these days.

He was last off the pitch. Whatever happens in the future, he’s our most important player in the here and now. Wealthy clubs will be in for him for sure but let’s worry about that another time. Air tight at the back with Lejeune today. They were talking to each other the whole match.. it's great to see.

STM
Thought Lejuene was better than Lascelles today but I still don't quite trust Lejuene like I do with Lascelles.
louistoon
true leader. If we stay up this season, its our defence which did it, and whoever else plays in our defence, Lascelles has been undroppable all season. Hero.
Guest Howaythetoon
He was superb today, him and Lejune. Lascelles is so dominant in the air and he’s becoming very tough and cynical almost as well, but in a no nonsense way.

The College Dropout
I'm not sure there are 2 better English CB's than this lad. Certainly not the 3 or 4 we'll take to the WC.
Minhosa
I remember constantly harping on, during the Prdew years, about how he couldn't demonstrate sustained improvement in any player. What Rafa has done with this lad alone eclipses that *Shithouse/Charlatan/Conman . Let alone the likes of Dummett. *Delete as appropriate. Or leave all 3 cause he's a smarmy cunt. Lascelles is so dominant in the air and he’s becoming very tough and cynical almost as well, but in a no nonsense way. Footwork has improved immeasurably, too. He's a cracking centre-back. Comfortably the best and most consistent we've had since Colo 11/12.

Comfortably the best and most consistent we've had since Colo 11/12. Yep, he shifts his feet so quickly these days and rarely gives the ball away. I think a lot of it has more to do with his attitude, mental strengths and a will to learn over any kind of massive talent and that’s what makes his rise if you like all the more pleasing. Dummet is having a similar rise albeit in a much more low key and less imoactive way. Rafa deserves huge credit for that.
