Good defending has totally and utterly gone out of the window over the last 10 years or so, and it doesn't really make games better spectacles to be honest. Yes the wide midfielders should be covering, but it's the job of the full back to defend the flanks at the end of the day. Crosses are coming in far too easily. We're playing with two defensive midfielders, it's their job to cover the full backs when they go forward. Basically, they're all responsible. The player that can see the danger and doesn't have his hands full elsewhere though is Sissoko, it would be daft to see it any other way. Yes, the full backs should be doing it but are doing what the midfielders should be doing, yes, the midfielders should then be covering but aren't, but Sissoko was tracking the runner and then just didn't carry on covering. The full backs weren't going forward, they were stood in the middle while the Norwich players were out wide taking aim at where they were going to put the cross in.
