Guest chopey
Totally baffled by this Shelvey bashing he's a cracking player that is victimised by refs although he does occasionally cross the line
triggs
Totally baffled by this Shelvey bashing he's a cracking player that is victimised by refs although he does occasionally cross the line When has he been a cracking player this season? TRon
I can't think of a player less suited to Spurs high tempo pressing game. One of the sillier transfer rumours so far.
Altamullan
Talking to yourself is a sign of madness. Nah, more indicative of really poor company.
Ketsbaia
I'd not cry if he left, assuming we get a replacement.
TRon
I haven't even thought about him leaving, especially on the back of shit rumours like this one.
Hughesy
I haven't seen anything to suggest he can be effective in a midfield two on any kind of consistent basis. Any offer of around 12m or above and I'd take it.
duo
Totally baffled by this Shelvey bashing he's a cracking player that is victimised by refs although he does occasionally cross the line The stats don't lie - he's been awful this season. More red cards than assists and zero goals.
Yorkie
Yep, he's offered nowt. Would happily take a risk on someone of a similar price tag. We'll probably get our money back.
Altamullan
I'd swap him for Cairney.
Odear
We’ve had so many players over the years who were almost very good but for some fatal flaws Titus Bramble for example could have been a force of nature at the back but was thick as pigshit and had no concentration. Shelvey is another with a distinct lack of intelligence, he has all the tools to be a dominant midfielder but hasn’t the character to really put it on the line for the team. It’s frustrating because he really could be a top player. But going back to the original point, because he’s thick as pigshit he'll never realise this. He’ll drift from club to club earning lots of money but ultimately never realising his potential.

As silly as it sounds and nobody would agree, he would benefit from being a leader. Hes the kind of player who needs an arm around him now and then, but would feel immensely important and loved if he had a big role to play. Trouble is somewhere someone might trust a lad like him with this responsibility, but Rafa would never.

Sir Toon
Shelvey being captain has ruined them games. He just cant do that.
Guest
If we're going to replace someone in January I'd sign a first choice to take Hayden's place personally. He's looked lost at times. Get an upgrade on him then I'm happy with Merino and Shelvey as cover.
Varadi
I quite like Shelvey but if we need to sell to buy and Rafa can use the cash to unearth another Merino-style gem then I would be OK with it I reckon.
Cronky
Totally baffled by this Shelvey bashing he's a cracking player that is victimised by refs although he does occasionally cross the line I'd say regularly crosses the line. For every occasion that he gets sent off, there's one or two other challenges where he puts himself at risk.
sh74
Sell.
Tsunami
I can’t believe that people are wanting us to sell Shelvey. Based on previous experience we’ll either not replace or get a make weight in. If the sale does go through we still need to get players through the door and I’d still keep Shelvey until at least the summer as we’ve no idea how they’ll settle. If the sale doesn’t go through and we sell him then prepare for trouble.
Figures 1-0 Football
Wouldn’t sell him even if we were taken over. We’re playing fucking Diame and Saivet in midfield ffs, are we going to bring in enough CMs in January that are all better than Shelvey? Not a chance. Hughesy
Think people are suggesting that they'd sell if we got a decent price and we got a replacement. Not really that controversial.
Guest Howaythetoon
Shelvey is a good passer of the ball and that is it, however he needs time and space to truly execute is range of passing. He's slow, immobile, lacks stamina, discipline and doesn't score or create enough. He's a passenger in the main. He may be a better footballer than Hayden for example, but Hayden gives the team more. The only reason why Shelvey is regarded a key player for us or one of our better players is because the rest are extremely poor to average so he kind of stands out on that front. This should have been his big season, but lack of discipline, stamina and mobility has seen to it that he's just another in a long line of players with talent we've had who just haven't nor ever will cut it. Mitrovic falls into the same category.
Altamullan
I get the point re man management of Mr Shelvey. Making him captain, building a team around him, expecting the very best from him, would I suspect help him be better and maybe even reach the dizzy heights expected of him at one point. No evidence, I just get the sense he is that kind of person/player. Make him conform; slot him into a role; give him a hard time for things that he doesn’t do well, and I reckon he’ll slip all too easily into his ‘fuck-you-edness’ default. Make him believe he is God’s gift to football, the most important player in the team, and he might well get close to playing like that.
Aiston
He's a liability that has maybe 1 good game in 8. Get rid of him.
