SUPERTOON
If he’s fit in ten days then that means he would certainly have been part of the squad for us for the rest of the season. Surely he gets replaced.
STM
They will do their utmost to replace him but ultimately this was a deal they had to do. They didn't want Shelvey triggering an extension.

Nucasol
Just now, STM said: They will do their utmost to replace him but ultimately this was a deal they had to do. They didn't want Shelvey triggering an extension. This. Great opportunity for Shelvey to get extended ‘Shelv life’ in the Premier League, great chance for us to clear the books of the fringe players who will become surplus to requirements on our accelerated trajectory. The risk of him triggering that extension and another £70k a week contract, at a time we need capacity in wages:turnover, is too great. Ritchie, Lascelles, Fraser, Lewis, Manquillo, Krafth, Gillespie, Darlow - all “has been” or “never will be” players now.
BottledDog
Ah, it was a horribly timed injury in the end. Wish him all the best.
Klaus
Meh good luck to him. He should have had a much better career than he had. Never reached his full potential imo. Had all the talent, but not the fitness/desire to full it.
The Prophet
Keep seeing a fee of £10 million mentioned, but no source. If it's anywhere near that it was a deal they simply had to do.
mouldy_uk
Don’t know why but I have a soft spot for Jonjo, real shame about the injury timing as he was doing ok, but now it’s definitely time to move him on and get some fresh blood if we can

worthy
Oh god it is a good day, its a lords day. What a sale no matter the price. His wages off and not needing to get angry seeing him pensioner walk behind play is going to be fantastic
Guest
I know there's a concern it might leave us short if we don't replace him, but we might have to accept that while we're transitioning we might see more of these sorts of sale when an offer comes in. I'm not even worried about that either given he's played about half an hour all season. Might just mean Anderson hangs around until the summer and gets a loan next season instead. Gazzaschicken
He's had quite a lot of stick from our fan base but he's been a good servant to the club and I quite like him.

I believe regardless if we're left short, should the opportunity arrive to move on players who in all probability won't get a game and are of a certain period in their career then take that option
Myleftboot
I heard from a former NUFC player a couple of years ago that Shelvey would have been a world beater but he loves his beer too much. Cans every night apparently.
OBC
Goes against most on here, but I felt since the takeover he improved massively in fitness and defensive workrate. Started this season in decent shape, and wouldn't have been surprised if he was the next big turnaround under Howe, then a horribly timed injury.
