Dr Venkman
Personally I've always enjoyed watching him for us, just don't see this supposed lack of effort at all. In fact, he's always looked like the one trying to make things happen. If we do stay up I suspect he'll have a large part in it.

It's not a lack of effort, he's just extremely naive defensively both in his decision making and positioning.
The College Dropout
Lack of effort in the sense he's a CM that has no idea about an important part of the position. Not switched on at all. Can't see Rafa playing him CM away from home in a 2.
mozy
We need to build the team around Shelvey, I'm convinced of that.
AyeDubbleYoo
I would put him in a midfield three with a couple of runners around him, possible Saivet and Sissoko. Then a front three with one or two who can drop into midfield as well. Midfield presence is everything for us to stay up.
BleedBlackAndWhite
Rafa plays 4-2-3-1, I strongly suspect we'll see Shelvey as part of the deeper 2 in midfield, alongside tiote if he's fit, if not then colback or anita (needs must). Ahead of him, either sissoko or wijnaldum. I agree that building a team around him isn't a bad idea, the same way wenger did with fabregas. I'm not saying shelvey is as good as fabregas, but his passing vision and ability is incredible and he's still so young, so who knows how good he can become? Terrymac1966
He's got a hell of a beak on him. And you're probably a fat ugly tw@t but I wouldn't say it because it is irrelevant and personal

AyeDubbleYoo
He was OK, his pass completion must've been terrible with the amount of impossible long balls he tried.

Don't recall many at all to be honest, kept it simple most of the time and won the ball back himself more than any other player today.

Scoot
Several places reporting that he’s getting axed from the England squad which is announced today for the Germany and Holland friendlies for Drinkwater If true it seems that whoever moves to the north east can kiss goodbye to the England careers. Eh? Drinkwater absolutely deserves a call up. Especially as him and Shelvey play in the same position then he should be in ahead of him.

Incognito
Mental that Drinkwater isn't about 35. Even more mental that he got man of the match the other night. I thought he was very average. But he's had an excellent season and therefore deserves an International call up.

Minhosa
Shelvey can't have too many complaints. A couple of very good homes games, one average home game and 3 poor away games don't exactly scream out 'call up'. Agree on the Drinkwater MoM award, it was Kante by a million miles. r0cafella
Not convinced by him at all, he does a lot of pointing but his own positioning is often woeful, be presses when he shouldn't and leaves so much space behind him. When he has the ball be often slows the game down whilst he figures out which long pass to attempt, great when they come off but when they don't it leaves players like Janmaat way out of position with Shelvey unable to cover the space.
