Ryder and Douglas, still maintaining he would only be a backup option and signed to provide cover (how the fuck would they know) If he's worse than Paul Dummett at left back, what is the point in signing him? The College Dropout Posted January 30, 2016 Share Posted January 30, 2016 Debuchy once he got up to speed was way better than aka mast defensively. More committed in the tackle and good in the air. Janmaat is poor in the air for a lad of his size and often just sleeps defensively. I prefer Daryl going forward though and he seems to pick and choose when to get forward better. They surely intend him as a backup for Gayá, since Orbán has been a bit of a liability and Neville doesn't seem to rate him. Even if McClaren was mental enough to put Dummet ahead of him (which I think is nonesense from Ryder and co) he'd still have games here straight away to show what he's got since everyone else at left back is already injured. This is a sensible signing if they have their mind set on signing Willems in the summer. It could really open up the left side of the pitch if we have him and Townsend there.
