Scoot
advert on the radio for Sunderland season tickets yesterday basically went like this: "come see Sunderlands 10th PREMIER LEAGUE season, as we play PREMIER LEAGUE teams, see such PREMIER LEAGUE teams as Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool, have we mentioned PREMIER LEAGUE yet because we are in the PREMIER LEAGUE, watch the PREMIER LEAGUE, PREMIER LEAGUE, erm PREMIER LEAGUE" was cringe worthy, happy to just float around just above relegation but keen to point out that Newcastle were relegated. Also amusing that their sales pitch is which teams you can see, not "come see Sunderland FC", more "come see the great players in the opposition". They're all the same man. Some stupid mackems i know have went and got Premier league badges on the arms of their sun'lun shirts. SMB's!

Reminds me of when we played Burra in the league cup back in 1992... The DJ at Ayresome Park (Me Mark Page) made a point of stating loads of things about them being in the Premier League. Made it even more satisfying to beat them 3-1 on the night. They of course also went down that season as we came up.

Sounds like their normal struggle and desperation to shift tickets but it will be to no avail no matter who the opposition are. As in seasons past they'll have circa 30K paying, 10K on some sort of freebie and 10K bleached pink seats. There's only one team who ever come close to filling their ground and unfortunately they won't be playing them next season.

The fact that there are 2 safc badges on that flag clearly marks it out as made firmly on wearside. Benwell Lad
I once asked some Feyenoord fans about this in Rotterdam and they kind of shrugged their shoulders and said words to the effect of "who the fuck are Sunderland ?" I think the affection and desire to be liked is probably one sided. They're not known as sad MB's for nowt.

Ross
Last season they'd played 9 games before they got a win and their first game is at the Etihad. Hopefully they'll start as they mean to go on...

afar
I don't see them being in any serious trouble this season either, not with fat Sam in charge for the full campaign. The way they finished last was quite remarkable form really. He made some good signings too, the CB that guy from Bordeaux and Kirchoff, along with Defoe's goals saved them. If he adds to that a couple of similar quality players, they'll be much more comfortable their recent seasons. Can honestly not see past the 3 promoted teams going straight back down again, Palace, Watford and Bournemouth for me are the 3 teams that may disrupt that. There are three loathsome teams that have managers in place that will always just do enough West Brom, Sunderland and Stoke, love to see those clubs drop but highly unlikely. Think it's going to be tough for Boro, Burnley and Hull, you could make a case for any of the 3 having the best chance of staying up but all look woefully short right now, early days though of course they could make some good signings and after Leicester's remarkable rise, hard to rule anything out nowadays. Sunderland though will be fine, boring uneventful, but fine and that will be huge success for their fans. Hated this appointment when they made it for this reason, it's going to be a few years before fat face wears on them and no one is likely to poach him off them. Skeletor
Sunderland will be the same as always. Rubbish for the first two thirds of the season, then they'll put together a run that sees them safe.
