r0cafella
Disagree personally we kept hold of the previous useless cunt far too long and manage to make a hash of both Windows in the process. Picking Saylor is due to the lack of options and the overall poor quality of our defence. Lascellas has had a couple of steady games but he's no fucking world beater. Ketsbaia
Maybe the shitter we are, the more sorry Rafa feels for us and the more he wants to take us back up. Or not.
clintdempsey
As I said last week. There's absolutely no point in starting Steven Taylor over Lascelles. World-class manager or not that is the wrong choice...
Ronaldo
Lascellas has had a couple of steady games but he's no fucking world beater. He only has to be vaguely competent at the basic aspects of defending to be a far better option than Taylor, though.

r0cafella
I can't understand why Gini is starting especially in cm Think the idea is he links the attack and midfield with Shelvey as the Pivot. I can only assume he feels no one else is suitable to play the role.
Guest Howaythetoon
You do not appoint Rafa to keep you up with 10 games to go, not at a club that has been fighting relegation for a few years and has a rotten set of players. His methods take time. Regardless, I don't think anyone could keep this sorry bunch up. They should never have appointed SMC in the first place and should not have stuck by him for so long. Everyone at that club deserves relegation except for Rafa and his staff and the general day to day and match staff. The owner, the MD, Carr, the players, the fans... they all deserve what's coming. Popcorn time for me, I hope the whole shit stain of a club that used to be Newcastle United crashes and burns. Rafa is far too good for this club, I hope he doesn't stay on. RobS
Yeah I kinda wish he had never come here tbh, fake optimisim, if only for a week or two makes this so much harder to deal with. I hope we go down to division 1, Ashley finallys sells the club and we can start rebuilding, as until he is gone we will never be ran properly. TRon
I bet in 2008-9 he'd have looked at Taylor as someone to exploit, yet here he is starting him over Lascelles. May have cost us our status. It's always a massive problem when you get a new manager in who doesn't know which players will let him down. He's gone for experience in Taylor and it's turned out as expected. What's really cost us has been those back to back wins before Christmas. If we'd got someone in then we would have had time to turn it round. We might have spent that money in January on players who could make a difference as well.

jackyboy
I just hope that before he goes he sits down with Ashley and tells him everything that's wrong with this club and what needs to be done. Not that Ashley will listen but it will make Rafa feel better to get it off his chest, then he can sell the article to the press about Ashley's reaction

It was bad enough last week to bring him in after Lascelles hadnt exactly done anything wrong in the derby, but to go with him again after he was awful at Norwich was poor. I've got faith in time he'd turn us around and his subs are bang on, but to start Taylor is giving the opposition a goal start.

It was massively disappointing, I'm just hoping that he realised his error and hauled him off in disgust. It's probably cost us our top flight status but it was always likely that he'd take a while to work out which players he absolutely can't go with. AyeDubbleYoo
Can't understand picking Taylor at all, makes no sense. No that any of the people available to play in defence are any good.
Robster
Gone tonight imo. Only if he wants to ruin his reputation. I don't think it would harm him at all. Would give him god-like status in my eyes if he told Ashley to fuck off.
toontownman
Steven Taylor starting today has not costs us our status. It's no different to Williamson. Hard to fully blame the player when they should have been shipped out and replaced literally years ago.. Saylor is far past it and was reckless at best before. Peaked at his early 20s never coming close to realising his potential. Benitez ironically removed himself from his normal plan to go 4-4-2 and try and attack. I don't think going defensive would have helped us either tbf. We have no defence. I rate mbemba but he needs a leader next to him this season. We don't have one. He also looked far better as rcb than lcb imo.

Big Geordie
He should resign now and leave the club to self-destruct. He owes the club nothing.
