Sima
Aye, I feel this is too late. Should have been done after Chelsea.
The College Dropout
People are talking about winning 5 in 10, when the team has won 6 league games all season... I'm pretty sure the morale surge alone of signing Benítez will do a lot, but I'm really afraid that it will be too late. And IT WILL SUCK. Agreed. What's keeping me excited is the fact we only have to do better than our rivals by 2 points. Beat Sunderland & Norwich and we will end up staying up. Anything less than 4 points over the next 3 games and we are goners.

You are spot on but we aren't cut adrift in the bottom 3 and its now a case of winning our key games , Sunderland and Norwich then hopefully bettering or matching their results. The Sunderland and Norwich games are do or die basically
SUPERTOON
Sounds simple, but all we need to do between now and the end of the season is win one more game than Norwich and Sunderland, and we still play both. I also think the Benitez appointment gives us a chance in every remaining game as opposed to hand picking a couple that we may have a chance in under McClaren. Andy84
I think the majority of NUFC fans think this is probably too late, we were definitely down under McClaren, we might not go down now. That's good enough for me

I'm preparing for possibly the greatest vertical drop on the emotional roller coaster we've ever had to experience. Still, while obviously tinged with an almost overwhelming shadow of relegation, and him buggering off before any sort of project even starts... it's nice to dream. SUPERTOON
Worth mentioning Leicester were on 19 points at this stage last season and obviously we all know they stayed up, however it just shows what momentum can do at this stage, and I think if we were to get a win either tonight or against Sunderland, our fixture list gives us the chance to do the same. Not winning (that would be way too much for a dickie heart), just looking like a group that can be dangerous, and could win sooner rather than later. I'm absolutely shitting it. sempuki
Palace, Swansea, Norwich and Villa and dare I say it the Mackems are the teams we should be looking to win against. The College Dropout
I do agree. I just think 4 points and there's still a decent chance we stay up but it will go to the wire. 6 I can see us pulling away. Definitely agree it's the 2nd and 3rd games we really need the points. AyeDubbleYoo
Impossible to predict anything until we see the Rafa effect really. On previous performances I would expect maybe 1 point from the next 3 games.

Collage
Jinx alert. I'm actually confident we'll win the derby, we have better players and should've won the game at their place. Rafa arriving has given the club a boost and he'll have us organised, i.e. have us look like a team, I'm sure.

merlin
We have added pressure to stay up now, following yesterday's result at the Emirates ; Arsenal going out of the Cup and, to all intents and purposes, fading from a PL championship challenge may just be the nudge their board need to bring Wenger's time as manager to an end, esp as Spurs are going so well. I need hardly tell anyone who the prime candidate would be to replace him should we fail to stay up and should Ashley/Charnley start backing down on transfer commitments even if we DO survive....... And it won't be Allardyce...! Tonight's game just became far more important....

Yep, can't help but think glass half full at this point. I've got all the faith in the world that he'll make us more tactically astute - after that it's a question of motivating. By all accounts that already looks promising. Four points from the next two games and I think we'll stay up.
bowlingcrofty
Palace, Swansea, Norwich and Villa and dare I say it the Mackems are the teams we should be looking to win against. Anything against Leicester or Southampton would be a bonus. Have written off the Citeh, Liverpool and Spurs games. Why write off those games? Spurs could well have nothing to play for by then and we beat them at WHL? Man City could have nothing to play for in the PL (2 away wins since xmas) and also have CL commitments. They were woeful against Norwich. We play Liverpool 4 days before a potential Europa League semi final which is their only route to CL football next year. I fully expect us to lose all three but football has a habit of surprising you.
Elma
A point tonight would be amazing - whatever happens we then need a minimum of four points from the next two. Ideally 3 against the mackems and minimum draw against Norwich. Get that and I can see the momentum taking us over the line. Less than that and it will be a struggle. I would hope we could beat an already relegated Villa on the second last game, and I would be disappointed if we lose to City, what with their poor-ish away form and them focussing on the Champions League. Wouldn't want to have to get anything from Spurs on the last day, but then both the mackems and and Noriwch have tricky away games, albeit against sides with nothing to play for. astraguy
From theses 10 games we need the team to play like they did vs Man utd (a) Arsenal (h) until the red card Norwich (h) Mackems again until the red etc etc if Rafa can match that or better we will be fucking flying
